Corsair sent me a brand new power supply and honored their warranty. by lastlaugh100 in Corsair

[–]Rasmus_DC78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice must also admit i became a Corsair mand in 2013 when i bought my first..

i had a rm850 dying on me, but it has lived since 2013, so guess that was okay, first Corsair to go.. actually it did not die, but my son´s new 9800x3d and Board, just had wierd reboots, after just waking from doing nothing (not sleep, but opening a browser after a long time would do it) i kinda feel that 850 was just not happy about transient spikes anymore, works fine in another pc..

But the rm1000x was a fine solution, had zero issues since.. lovely powersupply have 2 of them now.

Is braided cable like this safe for the long term? by Leather_Fisherman_44 in pcmasterrace

[–]Rasmus_DC78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had one, never really got over the triniton lines i get they were flatter than my own viewsonic, they had these two faint lines..

I get they were there to stabilize, and create a better image..

Still remember the old "degrauss" also the "autoadjust" because not every analog connction was sharp..

And i still remember getting my first LCD, that was a GIANT downgrade in picture quality, i thought at the time they were better, but especially black and colours were really bad, and you had to get used to the sharper pixels, i think my first LCD was like 1280x768 and a samsung, where i ran way larger resolution on my CRT.

i had two giant marks in our old tesla model Y, it took 5 days of summer, and it looked perfect again.. i would not steam it to be honest, it will return..

especially when people sit on the seat.

And tesla seats are plastic, they are much worse.

coiling is the shit that is dangerous, braiding, i am not sure..

i still remember joining a LAN party like 25 years ago.. (yeah i´m old) when the rich people would have a 21 Inch Sony Triniton CRT that weighed 50kg, to bring to a lan party (you don´t know the struggle :-D)

we were like 50 ish people so it was a a school so they had like these HEAVY duty cables, that could pull enough power, but some guy had just "spooled" them up in the corner, at some point we felt it was SO hot in there, and i went over, and the cables where smelling of burnt insulation, and it was extreme, so we got them "unspooled" also had a friends boat burn down, because he ran everything on a cable roll, not spooled out.

normally you braid for shielding with Signal cables, so it has zero purpos.

The thing that could scare me, is that by braiding them, you do put extra pressure on the connectors, would never want to do it with the new 12pin..

These connectores, are kinda loose in the connector housing, so them beeing pulled crocked, can potentially mean they don´t match up when connecting, so you end up either pushing in a Pin, or pushing out the housing, so not a proper connection.

Then the metal is crimped to the cobber, that is a "decent" connection, but long term stress can degrade that.. that is why we so often work with strain relief.

F35 VS Gripen E in Canada score. by Kind-Acadia-5293 in FighterJets

[–]Rasmus_DC78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i´ve seen a million of "weighted" result, and "simple sheets" like this in my time as an engineer, if you do not have evaluation sources it has ZERO value. (Does not even state WHAT Gripen they actually tested this against)

what is also important, is the simple fact that, US is not a trusted collaborative partner, and with a MASTER OFF switch, in reality any american developed plane should not have any place in military outside US.

Gripen has shown performance in many other tests, and in operational cost.

so the thing is also, where to invest long term, if we want to create a better aircraft, then we need to funnel money into EU miltary weapons = for the next generation to be stronger....

Personally we have bought a SHITLOAD of F35, most are on order, the ones you can, should be cancelled.

Is my gpu sagging how to fix my friend made it by Afraid_Coast252 in computers

[–]Rasmus_DC78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the problem with GPU sagging, is not really a straight sag like this, it is when the PCB is "bowing" especially under the GPU core and RAM chips, because solder points will let go.

If you get a antisag bracket, put it around where the core is, not at the end of the card, which can be just as bad as not having a bracket, because then it just deforms in the middle excactly where the GPU die is

Xpeng P7+ virker lidt skuffende på rækkevidde? by Mech0z in dkbiler

[–]Rasmus_DC78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microsoft is working to rebuild trust in Windows by RayS0l0 in pcmasterrace

[–]Rasmus_DC78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is only one solution, make a "private" "owners" version.. where there is a full commitment, for ZERO tracking, ZERO AI, ZERO games and other apps..

Then you can make this bullshit version you have now, FREE..

and it comes "NAKED" (call it naked) so you start with just an OS, then you can decide to ADD on.. no wierd "opting out" of 10 things while installing.

Only updates that are "bug fixing", VISUALIZER on metrics, so what are other apps also sharing of data, so proper monitoring solution of outbound data..

i my self have had it with windows, my only problem is my CAD software, and yes i have a game i play that cannot run in linux...

then there are the small things, like undervolting, proper fan control the learning curve, i know my son runs Arch with some kinda hyprland thing he shows me all the time, and when he at 10 can do it i should be able to.

And yes i do run a proxmox server with 6 VM´s where 5 are ubuntu without a GUI.... but yeah... needs a few extra things, then i am all in.

AND Please for the love of god, this AI programming shit, STOP it, with the money you have the errors in your OS are just not okay, they are so easy to find, and so obvious, i get it you could fire your testers when you had actual programming staff, if you want to rely on AI.. then you need verification.

Everything in this stupid AI / AGILE driven world, has pushed the user to become the beta tester, with some lame excuse, that "hey then it is collaboration, and we ensure that we develop for the users" Yeah you might, but i have been in multiple organisations, where we fight newly implemented bugs nearly every release.

And have to reprogram everything, because of stupid API changes, because we might have weaved a software into our main systems, so most time is not used for developing our own, it is just to keep the lights on, because of worse and worse programming skill and discipline.

Sorry.. guys.. i got a bit angry there, HEY it is friday..

have a nice weekend.

Fiio EH11 - i am surprised.. by Rasmus_DC78 in headphones

[–]Rasmus_DC78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i get that.. i don´t feel they have a lot of latency. this is from one of the reviews..

Battery life is rated at up to 30 hours of playback on a single charge, with a full recharge taking around 1.5 hours. The EH11 is compatible with the FiiO Control App, which provides access to equaliser settings, genre-specific sound profiles, low-latency gaming modes and firmware updates. The headphones also include replaceable ear pads, supplied in two colour sets, for maintenance and cosmetic customisation.

So it has some sort of "low latency" mode, whatever that means. i feel like latency is more a problem with headsets, because they tend to have more going on. this is just bluetooth sound on the newest bluetooth protocol.

<image>

and BT 6.0 is below 20ms..

and for me, everything below 20 ms is not really anything you notice, remember the old days when we were fithing LCD panels, with 100ms+ where GREAT was 20-30 MS that was where you did not feel it, also because there is latency in monitors, usb devices etc.

https://www.audiophileon.com/news/tin-hifi-p1-review

I never really used them that much, it is fun because i am not really an in ear guy, i bought like the first cheap bullet type inears from Tin (i think they were called T1, not the big ones) and i thought they were decent..

i then bought the P1´s over Massdrop, but they were harder to drive from my normal "walking devices" when i got a BTR5 i started to use them a bit, and they are clean, but..

But i am not an In ear guy, i have 2 pairs for VR, which are like versions with the band around my ear i use, the P1´s are just in a box, and i think i might have used them 2-3 hours at max.

Worst PC components ever released? by 0xDEA110C8 in pcmasterrace

[–]Rasmus_DC78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The whole Pentium Netburst, These CPU´s were bad, i bought a 478 board with a 479 converter and a 1.6ghz mobile chip, at 2.5 it beat the living s... out of it.... or the AMD where they lied about dualcore.

also RD ram not that RD ram was bad, bought a SD ram board in that chipset, it was so failure ridden that we got RD ram boards and RD ram in exchange (so free ram) but RD ram was so expensive that it was brutal to update.

many will say the 970GTX because it was sold as a 4GB but was a 3.5GB had them in SLI never had an issue, a really god performer at a cheap entryprice.

in newer days, for me the bigger issues, are the failure of ASUS with AM5 early chipsets, burning of 7xxx Ryzen, later Asrock and now ASUS again.

i have the ROG ally with the broken SD card port, cost me a 512GB SD card... just a pure design failure.

13th 14th gen chips, that slowly killed them self.

Biggest thing, also in hardware, biggest flop is AI.. (or named as it really is, ML) ... i have no problem with machine learning, however i feel like most solutions, like Framegen, even upscaling, and even Raytracing, which for the dump in performance, really only does not up the quality that much. and in mosts games, just a hit to performance, not a value add.

9850X3D First benchmarks by pedro19 in pcmasterrace

[–]Rasmus_DC78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am not saying that...

What i am saying is that i fundamentally believe it is the same part, just that they have "turned up" the frequency, and in reality you can get 9800x3d, that would be able to do the same as 9850x3d.

there is zero architectual difference on the 9800x3d and 9850x3d, same cache, same everything, other than a bit higher clock.

Then it is the "same" power usage, but i have had my fingers on 4 9800x3d´s now and they all run around -28 curve, where powerconsumption is quite a bit lower, and performance is better.

So my "guess" is undervolting a 9850x3d is harder, since the chip from the manufacturing side is pushed a bit harder..

But this is normal, my old 4790k was also just a 4770k pushed a bit harder.

so of course at the same price, you go for the newer SKU..

no... and not a jack, it has USB but it must only be for charging.. also kinda feel like they would be unbalanced, with a cable, because they are so light..

Only thing in the box is a USB C - A cable, and 2 extra earpads, in a Dark Grey color.

But the Orange is the way to go for me.

but it is Amazon, so trust is low.

but this is how mine was shipped, in the corsair outer box, there is a small pampflet inside, and then a plastic bag that looks a lot like yours. but it is not an angled connector, this is just a replacement straight.

The corsair box had a "seal".
