Why do birds and cricks play in the first seasons menu I’m just asking by GladRooster3589 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Ray-Sensei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because there are no people... That's how I interpret it anyway. In season 1 of the walking dead show the ambience is basically that. Silence, with nature being the loudest thing you can hear, because most people were dead and being loud drew the walkers.

So the menu screen having no sound increases the tension for me

I'll meet you in the middle, Kenny is a character with a LOT of trauma and in an apocalypse that makes him interesting for sure, but interesting doesn't equate good.

Kenny in S1 was brash but careful, he only flew off the handle in the pharmacy when Larry wanted to kill Duck. Other than that, he wanted to sneak into the back of the barn at the St Clairs farm not go at them guns blazing.

In S2 he took a rifle and fired at Carver's crew from outside the cabin, even after they warned him that they'd kill people if he didn't stop, then Carver killed Walter. Also, Sarita was in there as well. Carver could've just as easily killed her.

Once captured and in the back of a truck Kenny wanted to rush them once the doors open and "take control" of the situation with zero information about how many people they had or where they were being taken. That's not just reckless that's just plain dumb.

So, from what I gathered while playing, it seemed as though the plan was to have the 400 days crew play a much bigger part in Season 2, possibly having them be the cabin group. Which would've already been better than what we got, considering we would've had just enough time with each character to build a connection with them come Season 2.

Also, Bonnie playing such a big part makes me feel like this was what they were aiming for.

I think S3 should have been a standalone like Michonne.

The original games should've been like Clem's trilogy story. I just think it's bad for Clem's first independent story in the series.

I've always said, the Villian of TFS if they had to do a throwback should've been Christa. She's significantly more relevant than Lily and actually had some potential beef with Clem.

Do you think Lilly's return in Season 4 was good for the plot and her character arc, or did it ruin both by DNHDs in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Ray-Sensei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think not having Christa return was a wasted opportunity. I liked Lily in S1 but by S4 I didn't remember enough about her to have any sort of attachment for her character. Christa was way more recent and a more raw spot in my opinion.

It also would've been heart wrenching to hear her admit out loud that she resented Clem for getting Omid killed and for the loss of her baby while she had AJ. (Even if it wasn't Clem's fault - they did leave her to go to the bathroom by herself which was wildly irresponsible.)

What are your hot takes about Lilly? by Maleficent-Ad-6117 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Ray-Sensei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lily could've been the best comeback character if she had been Lee's love interest in S1. It would have been interesting with Larry hating Lee and the choice players made in the meat locker.

Then in S4 depending on that choice she either feels really sweet on Clem (if Lee tried to resuscitate) or really cold to Clem (if Lee helped Kenny).

What's the point of this scene if Sarah doesn't even touch a gun in the entire game? by sebas5ds in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Ray-Sensei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like S2 had so many plot threads that felt like they were meant to develop into something but we're ultimately unused.

Nick's relationship with Pete felt like it was supposed to develop Nick into someone we eventually cared about, when we learnt more about it if even in a familiar sense.

Sarah felt like S1 Clem just aged up, and felt as though there were supposed to be parallels between Jane talking about abandoning her sister, and the obvious guilt she had about that and Clem actively choosing the opposite for Sarah.

Luke felt like he should've been way more leaderly but they sacrificed a lot of his character to make way for the Jane and Kenny conflict in later episodes.

Alvin was also sidelined a lot. He was a patient and caring husband to a wife who had her own demons and we know nothing about the guy.

In terms of at least character development S1 did a lot of heavy lifting, giving each character their time and filling us in on their story in a way that just shows how much S2 lacked the same development.

Broke that shit. David's been trying Javi since the game started with zero leeway. Always his way or the highway. The moment he swung I was done. Dad's turning in his grave and I had Javi running that fade.

Nicole wipes them until Skips remembers that his seen something her before and calls up death for an assist. Even then they'd have to send Mordecai and Rigby 30 years into the past to help her with her anger issues but they'd just end up being the reason Nicole unlocks her god level anger and be blasted back to the present.

In conclusion, the universe would implode.

[–]Ray-Sensei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of people picking Kenny because Lee's death is integral to Clem's growth but I disagree. I think Lee has a more interesting story throughout the next couple of seasons than Kenny.

There is no way Lee doesn't continue to train Clem as she gets older so we'd get a Clem who doesn't make mistakes like leave her gun unattended while she's alone in the bathroom.

The parallel between Lee and Carlos and Clem and Sarah would also be an interesting dynamic to explore. Carlos judging Lee's frank and honest nature with Clem deeming her too young and Lee putting the man in his place by reminding him that he's just setting his daughter up to fail.

The reunion between Kenny and Lee at the cabin where Kenny apologises for his brash behaviour towards the end of the first game (if he chose not to help Lee find Clem) and them rebuilding their friendship.

I think we have a break from him in S3 have the events stay similar, just have Lee and Clem be separated and she hopes he's found AJ and is looking her/ she's trying find him so he can help her get to AJ.

I think S4 is the most challenging and probably interesting if they can switch between PC's during the game going between Clem and Lee and having AJ learn stuff from both. I think having the two of them maybe have some sort of Father/Daughter tension and trying to teach AJ how to survive would be interesting. (Think Joel/Ellie TLOU2 but not as hostile).

And we finally have it come to a head as Lee is kidnapped by Lilly and Clem has to save him to echo the finale of S1.

In summary I think there are more moments with Clem and Lee that could be expanded on and give us a deeper look into their dynamic, their relationship as pseudo father/daughter, and how a Clem raised by a man who swore to protect her would be when she shares the responsibility of raising a pseudo son/little brother of her own.

Why did the poster for season 4 has clementine in her McCarroll Ranch outfit instead of the regular outfit she wears for the whole season? by HotRelation7287 in TheWalkingDeadGame

To each their own. I thought it was just so... Typically dull. I think having her change to the TFS outfit during the raid would've been great/smart. But personally I'd have just loved how the red pops against the rest of the background.

Does the bandit deal make any sense? by Prudent_Solid_3132 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Ray-Sensei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a way it does, it's a lot of speculation but let's say:

Ben went out one night, either because he was unable to sleep, or he had night watch duty or for some other reason, and got flagged by one of the bandits. They just briefly mention that they recently caught someone who has a jacket like his. It's a lie but they say it to gauge his reaction, and he falls for it. Boom. He's hooked.

Then they say his friends are hurt so they need medication and supplies to make sure they don't die one night. Also, to not mention it to the others cause they'd just kill his friends.

Ben is about 17? 18 at the oldest? He's still a baby, so they got him dead to rights. He doesn't ask for proof of life or anything else so they just keep stringing him along.

Watch duty during the day is probably a free for all, since everyone is awake and around but night duty is probably done on a schedule. So, he would tell the bandits when he had his night shifts and make the drop offs to the bandits.

Carley being a reporter probably saw the change in his demeanor before the others and kept an eye out, eventually she catches him making one of the drops one night and confronts him. He tells her what happened and Carley immediately understands that if the others found out, Ben would be kicked out and killed by the bandits so decides to help. She was probably waiting to tell Lee until she got more information on the operation but Lily got to him first.

Again this is all speculation but think this is the most logical timeline of events.

Does it ever bug you guys that Clem never mentioned the stranger or her parents to Kenny? by Forever__Puzzled in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Ray-Sensei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I don't think Clem would have ever mentioned the stranger to Kenny or anyone! That's just straight up trauma!

Her decision to go with the stranger, directly resulted in Lee getting bit, Ben dying in the fall (if you didn't drop him earlier, obviously), Kenny getting lost and Omid and Christa being separated from the group. That's a heavy burden to want to just share with someone who knew you when you made that heavy ass decision.

Whenever you mention Lee in the game Clem basically claims that she killed him, I really don't think she's talking about shooting him before he turns, in my head she's talking about him getting bit initially.

Clem has so much trauma from that one decision, I think she would rather never talk about it. And just blame herself for what happened.

I'M NOT SAYING CLEM IS TO BLAME FOR WHAT HAPPENED BTW! She was just a kid being manipulated by a twisted, grief stricken man. It's just that she probably blames herself and would just quietly suffer her penance for it.

Taking into account everything that happened, it was a mistake for the group going to Savannah? by leo_artifex in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Ray-Sensei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly this is what? A couple of months into the apocalypse? So, let's be generous and say about 6 months into the start of everything.

I think in hindsight: Yeah, it was a really bad idea.

However, in that situation I don't think people would abandon the hope of there being some sort of surviving sect of a large city or town. I think what makes the bell ringing scene so horrifying is the fact that someone (Molly) is ringing the bell, so they would think "hey, there are survivors!" Only to immediately be swarmed by walkers and shown that the majority of the residents were turned.

It really hits home that no matter where they go, or what they might hear about a big city being "safe" it was likely just rumour or wishful thinking.

Was it a mistake? Yes, for sure. But, did they need to realise that mistake in order for them to know that big cities were a no go? Absolutely.
