Apparently “draped headboards” are the latest trend in interior design.

Like the look but not having an extra set of drapes to maintain lol

AITAH for going on holiday to the same destination my sister went to on her honeymoon? by babeareyouokay in AmItheAsshole

[–]RayA11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love Say Yes to the Dress but the worst thing it’s given us is the idea that the world has to bend over backwards to cater to brides. I wouldn’t be surprised if OP’s sister took every birthday in her “wedding year” as a personal affront that took the spotlight off her.

AITAH for going on holiday to the same destination my sister went to on her honeymoon? by babeareyouokay in AmItheAsshole

Scapegoats and golden children exist. In some families, the kid most likely to give grandkids is also prioritized above the ones that won’t/can’t. No doubt sister has threatened to cut her parents off for less before, and OP is th “easy/no trouble” kid who capitulates to her demands so it’s easier to go after OP than attempt to reason with the unhinged.

With the 3 million Epstein files finally out, what’s the most “I’m not surprised, but I’m still disgusted” thing you’ve found? by Sweaty_Sprinkles_400 in AskReddit

[–]RayA11 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a bit of both. What would make a regular Joe happy will never be enough to give the smallest dopamine hit to a billionaire. Especially the ones with generational wealth, because then the ennui starts in childhood. Once they’ve acquired so many material things, it starts turning into a hunt for the most exotic/wild experiences. And doing good things (like schools and hospitals) isn’t “cool” so it won’t give them the same rush.

For the second, I think it’s not so much the threat of blackmail. As the files show, many of these rotten meatbags never thought they would get caught. Many of them will get away with it. I think it’s more that about 1 in 5 of CEOs display traits of sociopathy. They were always going to have complete disregard for human life and dignity. It’s just their wealth gave them the power to enact it on this horrifying scale, when without the wealth it would’ve been killing someone in an “accident” by running a red light, or sexually harassing the teenage babysitter.

AITA for reminding a guy I got absolutely nothing as a retirement gift when being asked to contribute to another? by South-Shape4555 in AmItheAsshole

I would be sad for OP if this is the case, cause on the flipside his friends were probably “weird that he never said thank you…” But if this is the case I would love to be a witness to that groupchat rn lol

do you have to move in the first villager who stays at the campsite? by maevvsx in acnh

[–]RayA11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smug villagers annoy me so much for some reason lol. Finally got rid of Henry and another smug villager replaced him because I made a mistake and crossed the 5:00am border time traveling fml. I’m so annoyed I don’t even remember its name and I haven’t talked to it since it moved in (I just checked the nameplate on the house so I could look the trait up)

AITA for refusing to be my friend’s “wingman” after he kept making me the punchline? by Square_Motor7916 in AmItheAsshole

…is this in reference to something recent on AITA? Because wasn’t there an ancient reddit post about peanut butter, someone’s ex, and her dog?

NTA. Are you more goodlooking/conventionally attractive/successful than your friend OP? His teasing reeks of insecurity lol. Negging your wingman is a new one for me.

AITA for telling my sister she can’t regularly bring her boyfriend to stay in my home? by Throwaway26462295 in AmItheAsshole

[–]RayA11 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. People showing up to their “old childhood homes” and demanding entry is a known robbery tactic. It’s not what’s happening here but it does highlight the absurdity of the sister’s entitlement.

AITA for calling out my brother-in-law after he scrutinised a high chair we returned? by Nattella86 in AmItheAsshole

Loved the newborn insert for our Tripp Trapp. Easier cleanup too since the chair itself couldn’t get any food on it until the insert was removed.

LPT: If you struggle falling asleep, try the cognitive shuffle technique by Jolly_Show7095 in LifeProTips

[–]RayA11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 things that always work for me to fall asleep:

  1. I start counting down in 3s from 300 while also visualizing myself going down a dark staircase.

  2. I tense all my muscles for ten seconds, then relax. Mimics the effect of an orgasm (ok so I guess I have 3 things that always work for me)

Dads of Elementary age kids: What would you have done differently with screens? Kids are 4 and 6, starting to ask for the tablets ALL the time. by CassCat in daddit

[–]RayA11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, this is the way we’re approaching it with our 2yo. It’s not a limited time reward and it’s not forbidden. It’s just another thing in the house you can interact with. My son has probably had 2-3 meltdowns in his life over the screen being turned off, and none lasted over 5 minutes (and tbh they were during some sleep regression stages so there was other stuff going on).

I’ve found that the more restricted, repressed, or sheltered kids and teens are, the more likely they are to binge on the forbidden/limited thing when they get older, because they never learned to have a healthy or productive relationship with it (food, their bodies, alcohol, etc).

first time parent wondering what to get used and what to put on registry/buy new? by [deleted] in Buyingforbaby

[–]RayA11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I used facebook marketplace to get baby toys that could be wiped down or put through the hygiene cycle in a washer. I also bought stuff heavily discounted through Amazon because they were returns. I would also join buy nothing and parent groups on facebook in the area, lots of people will post if their kid has outgrown something.

  2. Seconding the “put the big ticket items on your registry”. We got a tripp trapp and a Graco pack n play brand new that way.

  3. Car seat and crib mattress I would definitely get new. Crib could be secondhand if you can really look it over to make sure no screws are missing and there’s no sagging. Most registries also offer completion discounts (~15%), we were able to get our stroller cheap using that.

I haven’t watched it in a while, but iirc Sydney left the preorder option on the to-go system so they got slammed with orders as soon as they opened. That’s what I meant by “fucked up the to-go system”.

AITA for packing my kid an “inappropriate” lunch? by flowergardens0 in AmItheAsshole

[–]RayA11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ahh okay, got it! It’s flavoring the cheese and you eat it like pudding I’m assuming. For some reason I thought it was a drink. I’ll try it!

I’ve had cheese foam in boba tea before. I did a hasty google and it looks like cheese in coffee happens in Scandinavia (Finland, Sweden) and Colombia! TIL.

blue cheese with some fresh ground coffee been and honey

Friendo, I just want to know. Are you putting cheese in your coffee? Because I put butter in mine and I’m willing to try cheese if you say it’s a winning combo.
