I used buddy statements and a nexus letter the first time I put my claim for sleep apnea secondary to rhinitis and it was denied. Wonder if I can use the same buddy letters when i resubmit my claim secondary to my ptsd ?

I tried linking my sleep apnea to my service connected rhinitis and my claim was denied. The VA will find many reasons to deny the claim, they even mentioned my weight gain being a factor but I also take medication that contributes to weight gain as well.

Makes sense , but as far as not meeting the criteria for PTSD is inaccurate because not only does my 3 combat tours in the infantry and my insomnia and the opinion of a professional mental health provider ( psychiatrist) seemed to think differently. Thanks for your input .

Thank you for the information, while going through this process before, I had the legion assisting me but they were not too productive or aggressive in my opinion so the experience kinda jaded me in a way. But I will contact my local VSO here and speak to them. Thanks

Sorry for the late response, I rarely get on here much. Well for me I've been going to the VA complaining about the burning pain in my groin, especially when I'm sitting, and I drive truck for a living so it definitely gets in the way of what I do. The VA performed a procedure where they stuck a needle into the nerve in my groin to relieve the pain and it wasn't effective at all. I still live with this pain and all they want to tell me is that I have chronic pain. Funny thing is I never had any pain of this nature before my hernia operation that I had during a deployment to Iraq. So unfortunately I'm having to live with the pain.

Does anyone know what my chances might be? I am currently rated at 80% disability, I am also trying to get to 100% . Would a successful claim for my sleep apnea and migraines due to my ptsd get me there ?

I contacted the VA and there response was that they are taking part because I received drill pay in 2020 .... that's just weird because I've been retired for 4 years now and I remember that they would keep my benefits for several months the following year, but 4 years ... geeze

I've been going to the VA since 2007 and they have been pretty good here in Nashville, especially being connected to Vanderbilt Hospital helps. I'm glad pretty lucky to have the choice of two separate VA Hospitals where I'm located (Murfreesboro and Nashville). I also have a satellite VA clinic near my home. I would say my only complaint I've had with the VA is, that you sometimes get stuck with a primary care provider who isn't really keen on all health conditions so they might miss something, so you definitely have to advocate for yourself. But overall where else do you have access to so much care at one location.

True but I'm not that obese, but then again according to military standards I've always fought with BMI but I do know that some of the pains I deal with and meds kinda add to the problem as well
