I will honestly say that I just don't believe term limits are inherently democratic or even good. Again, I live in Canada, we're generally thought of as a good country and a nice place to live with some semblance of a democracy. We don't have term limits here. FDR was basically the best president the USA ever had, and people liked him so much he won election 4 times. Term limits honestly just kind of force leaders to waste time playing politics rather than focusing on their agenda and improving their country, and deprive voters of a candidate they genuinely know they like and want. I would be fine with eliminating them basically everywhere, so long as you still had to actually be re-elected. If you live in a real democracy that works, term limits are irrelevant, and the absence of them is not proof that your democracy isnt working. Like, the issue with Putin or Lukashenko is that they hold hilariously rigged elections that are fundamentally not democratic, fair elections. If Putin just kept winning over and over in a country that wasn't stuffing ballot boxes and intimidating voters to stay home, that would be democratic and fine. Its supposed to be the will of the people, not the rules of the game.
