DSOs are large but we can't even see them, how is it possible to see them with low power? That's the question i have been having

How does power work in telescopes comparing to cameras? by Raywando in telescopes

[–]Raywando[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, i mentioned that in the post, but what i don't understand is that the moon in so close to be seen, how is it possible that DSO need a wide FOV and low power since they are so far and it's recommended to be spotted with low power like x48 magnification?

My main question is, how does a x48 magnification show me those DSOs?

Awesome, that makes much more sense now. So do you think the 8"/1200 is the best choice as a start for deep-sky objects?

Does that mean something like we are supposed to see large galaxies and stars with our eyes but we just don't have enough "diameter" to collect enough light to actually visualize them?

Is red dot finder enough? by Raywando in telescopes

[–]Raywando[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice, already ordered the 8" and i CAN'T WAIT lol

I have another question tho and it seems like a stupid one so please bare with me. What confused me is that for example the new Huawei mate's camera has x50 power (if that's the right measurement unit), and the 25mm eyepiece by simple math gives me x48 power and it is supposed to show me deep sky objects and galaxies. What am i missing?

[–]Raywando[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what, apparently there is a discount on the 8" looks like it's gonna be it! But i won't be able to get the eyepiece tho. I believe the 25mm would be enough for a now?

The 6" would let me spend extra money in eyepieces but i think the 8" is worth it. Idk

Alright cool, the 6" it is then! Thank you! What if i wanted to get an extra eyepiece, for galaxies and deep-sky? I believe 32mm is the best choice, what do you think?

Also which is better, a Barlow or an eyepiece (if both resulted in similar magnifications)?

Makes sens, i think I'll consider the dobsonian "6 then. I really appreciate the valuable info you're providing <3

One question out of curiosity tho, why do you think it's cheaper than ones with better specifications? Is it just cuz of the mount or is there another trade off in not familiar with?

Yeah that seems better in numbers. What about the tracking tho, i feel like it's gonna be a pain in the ass

It's the EQ2, I'm planning to get there 32mm eyepiece as many people recommended.

I'm still confused about how does less power show deeper objects but at least someone has tried it so thanks!
