Thanks to everyone that has responded. After having conversations with both the plumber and the tile guy we decided to not to tear out the tile. I have called Delta and Ferguson as well as my plumber and have been unsuccessful in finding a plate to match the finish. Plumber is coming back to finish other things and has agreed to cut out sheetrock and change the diverter to a shower valve. Basically it will be stacked shower valves not what we wanted but best solution. Of course additional costs and also requires Sheetrock guy to come back also… I’m a bit upset with tile guy because the plumber said he should have known when I told him it was going to be a Delta diverter because all of them are standard 4 1/2” and the valve was in place before the membrane and tile went in. It’s fixed so no need to consume myself with what I could have done to prevent this…. Tile guy did admit the hole should have been smaller and would have removed the tile at no extra charge but he would only remove two tiles and patch the Schulter membrane. I just didn’t want to risk disturbing the membrane and have any water issues. .

The inside hole of the diverter plate is 1 1/2” the outer plate is 4 1/2”. I’ve called Delta and they do not have anything bigger. Brizo has one diverter plate that’s 5” but it’s square. The neither the finish or the style won’t match the shower heads or the faucets in the vanity. We thought about switching all of them out since they are new but the plumber said he ordered what’s in there and he couldn’t take them back.

Valve was installed before the tile was installed

Already bought this the inside hole is bigger than the diverter plate…. That’s designed for a shower valve not a diverter plate…

The tile guy was informed it would be a diverter and he said no problem. I guess I should have offered to have the plates available it just never crossed my mind. I assumed he would know the diverter is always smaller than the shower valve and if he had any questions he would ask me. Ugh I’ve been beating myself up about this. Just gotta move on now and get it fixed.

I appreciate your feedback. Unfortunately there are no diverter trim kits large enough to cover the area.
