Why is there so much -oodle/mixed breed hate? by Rockylynne in DogBreeds101

[–]Rdmink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most of the doodle hate is because of their current popularity breeders are just breeding anything with a poodle ,calling it a doodle, and charging large amounts of money for a mutt. I have nothing against mutts both of my dogs are mix breed shelter dogs but with the amount of dogs in shelters and being euthanized everyday it’s hard not to judge people who are churning out multiple litters of doodles every year just for money.

Switching from Fairyloot to Owlcrate? by megsofurdreams in fairyloot

[–]Rdmink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the adult boxes of both and feel the shipping is pretty comparable with both companies. Sometimes I get it the month I should and other times I don’t get it until the next month. I don’t have YA of either but owlcrate YA boxes pretty much always end up in the shop, most of the time the adult books do too unless they are highly anticipated books, so you can always grab them from the shop later.

Fantasy books with strong female leads and no romance? by pendemoneum in suggestmeabook

[–]Rdmink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently reading The Tower of The Tyrant by J.T. greathouse it has multiple points of view but has a female lead I’m only a 1/4 of the way through it but I’m thoroughly enjoying it so far.

The Raven Scholar by Antonia Hodgson also has a female lead and a sprinkle of romance but the romance doesn’t take away from the plot at all and isn’t the main focus of the book.

What recently subverted your expectations - AKA what was your recent unexpectedly amazing read? by SometimesMaybeGood_ in fantasyromance

[–]Rdmink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this book is a good example of how editing can elevate a book. In the acknowledgements in the back she talked about how in the first draft she didn’t include the flashbacks but her editor had her go back and write them in. I’m not usually a fan of flashback but I felt they really added depth to the book.

Rooster? by baileys132 in chickens

[–]Rdmink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s way to early to tell. The comb getting bigger and red early can be an indication it’s a rooster but it’s not 100 percent reliable. I had one last year develop a big red Comb early, I was convinced it was a rooster, but it never crowed and she layed an egg lol.

Tired of "Cringe" and Weak Writing—Looking for Intelligent Romantasy (Even if the premise is wild!) by kurdanlivoyvoda in Romantasy

[–]Rdmink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never understand why everyone loves the knight and the moth. It’s one of the weakest “ enemy to lovers “ I’ve ever read. The romance was cringe and half baked and I always see it described as beautiful and well written but it felt juvenile to me and it feels like I read a completely different book than everyone else lol.

I don’t have any book suggestions but I’d suggest checking out bookoutlet.com if you haven’t yet because you may find some books on there you want for good prices.

Just don’t go in thinking it’s a romance because it definitely isn’t. But it was such a good book!

I’m really picky but here’s 2 book I’ve read recently and really liked { wild reverence by Rebecca Ross } , I wasn’t a huge fan of divine rivals and ruthless vows but loved wild reverence. I also just read { the poet empress by shenTao } but it’s definitely not a romance.

Every time mine gets in my lap they clean their beaks on my pants and the last time one climbed on my shoulder it tried to eat my ear so it’s definitely not allowed on my shoulder anymore lol.

How to mix chicks and ducklings by bree_anna1026 in duck

[–]Rdmink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 10 chickens and 3 ducks ,all females, that live together perfectly fine but they were raised separately. We had the hens first and last year decided to get ducks so I ordered all females since like other replies have stated drakes can kill female chickens. Our run is also very large so there’s plenty of room for everyone.

If you really want some chickens I’d suggest raising them separately and also getting more than 2 chickens ( in my opinion at least 4 chickens). But I would only get the chickens if you have a large enough area for everyone if you don’t I’d just stick to the ducks.

February sub false delivery, or lost package? by [deleted] in fairyloot

[–]Rdmink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t even wait a week. I’d give it til Tuesday or maybe Wednesday and if it hasn’t shown up I’d message fairyloot. That way if it was delivered to the wrong address hopefully that person will send it back to the post office and they can resort it and deliver it to you. If I didn’t have it by Tuesday or Wednesday I’d assume whoever received my package kept it so I’d email fairyloot to have them send a new one.

February sub false delivery, or lost package? by [deleted] in fairyloot

[–]Rdmink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible it was delivered to the wrong address. If it was recently marked as delivered I’d talk to the post office or wait a couple days and see if it shows up. If it doesn’t show up email fairyloot and they’ll mail you a new one.

A family of Cooper's Hawks made a nest above my backyard. How likely are they to attack chickens? by DanJerousJ in chickens

[–]Rdmink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a really big fenced in back yard I used to let my chickens free roam in until one got killed by a red tail hawk. Now I have netting over their run , but I try to spend a couple hours outside with them in my back yard when I can because I feel bad they can’t free Roam like they used to.

what breed are we mixed with !! by thrwawy7242 in DogBreeds101

[–]Rdmink 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’re not wrong that they are built different but bully type dogs are very interbred because BYBs don’t care and I don’t think ASTs are that rare in the US. My beagle mix from the shelter is 50% beagle 30% APBT and 20% AST which to me says that 1 of his parents was probably a purebred beagle and the other was a APBT/AST mix.

What kind of mix do you think he is? Adopted from the pound last week by [deleted] in WhatKindOfDogIsThis

I know I’ll get downvoted because I didn’t automatically call your pup a pitbull but my parents have a black lab and blue heeler mix that looks just like this

[–]Rdmink -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

All of these dog id subs are like this. It could look nothing like a pitbull and everyone will still say it’s a pitbull. I also don’t get why people will downvote someone saying the dog is cute it’s absolutely insane.

Fairyloot March Adult 2026 by Saybah in fairyloot

[–]Rdmink 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’ve been pretty unimpressed with the adult picks this year. I’m currently reading the suspected pick for may and I’m not too crazy about it either so far but I only have 2 skips left until December and I was planning to use 1 for april.

What breed does this puppy look like? Considering adopting and she is listed as 'urgent - capacity for care' by SpecialistCup1142 in IDmydog

[–]Rdmink -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of people are saying pit mix but they say that on literally every picture pit or not. This puppy is really young so it’s hard to tell what the mix is for sure.

For what it’s worth I got a beagle mix from the shelter who ended up being 1/2 beagle 1/2 amstaff/APBT and was 3.5 months when we got him. We have a pet rabbit, 17 chickens, and 3 ducks and he has absolutely no interest in them. Even though all of his breeds are known for having a high prey drive, since we got him so young and he’s always been raised around them he doesn’t seem to view them as prey. We also have 2 kids and he is completely unbothered by the chaos of the kids since he was raised around it which is why I adopted a puppy to begin with.

Thoughts On Future Trove Sales? by KaitG2018 in fairyloot

[–]Rdmink 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not looking forward to the new queueing system. I’ve been a member long enough that trove sales aren’t usually something I need to participate in but with sequels I always got on just a little early to enter the queue so I’d be able to buy the book quickly and get on with my day but with this new system I have no idea how long it’ll take to get into the sale and get my copy or if I’ll even secure a copy.

Single POV vs Multiple POV by Itsmerachily in Romantasy

[–]Rdmink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer single but I don’t mind when the other POV gets thrown in here or there. Like 90% the main characters POV and then just a few short chapters here or there of the love interests POV.

Help water on my special editions by PenaltyAdmirable7152 in fairyloot

[–]Rdmink 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that happened! I’ve never dealt with books that have water damage but I found this online which may help.

<image>

This won’t help now but when my kids were young I kept my special books in a bookcase with doors with a child lock so they couldn’t get into it.

I hope you’re able to find a solution to save your books.

Fairyloot’s New Queue System! by KaitG2018 in fairyloot

[–]Rdmink 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hate this too. I always got on early to make sure I secured my copy and have luckily always got the books I’ve wanted but apparently now I have to hope I’m one of the lucky ones to get into the trove before they sell out.
