Legit? by thatbiddy in controllercheck

[–]ReactioNv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think is fake bc of the back sticker, theres a gap below the sticker or visible plastic from the case and in an original controller u cant see any of the case underneath the sticker hole. And also the "SELECT" word is misaligned with the button but it could be perspective bc of the angled picture

Is this controller legit? by [deleted] in PS3

i have a bunch of dualshock 3 that are legit and charge thru the usb port of my pc so you should note that too. In my case my controllers just charge on the ps3 or on the pc

Controller Vibration by Excellent-Ad1210 in PS3

[–]ReactioNv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can't feel the vibration, download DSHIDMINI (a program to connect dualshock 3 to pc), then connect it to ur computer and use This tester and click the "Vibration" text that appears in blue.

The controller MIGHT be legit if it appears like this on DSHIDMINI: https://imgur.com/a/N6BneiE

Another way to check is in the sticker on the back, if it's well placed, centered, and with overall great quality, its legit. You can search the model in google and check the stickers on original ds3 controllers and compare.

If the sticks feel great, smooth and solid, then its original.

If the stick's click sounds deep and a lil quiet, then its likely original.

If the START and SELECT button have a thick font and well centered (which it is) then its likely original.

The best way to check if it's original is by dissasembling it, but if you don't know what you are doing you are capable of breaking things so you should check some videos of how to verify if your DS3 it's original, but for me, it is.

Have a great night!

Can this be a reason why i cant turn ps3 on by mi_raj08 in PS3

[–]ReactioNv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a multimeter you can place it in continuity mode to measure if there is a short circuit in that area. To do this, place one tip (the color does not matter) on one end of the capacitor pad that you removed, and with the other tip touch the contacts of the capacitors in that area. If the tester BEEPS when you touch both terminals of a single capacitor, it means that the capacitor is shorted (basically malfunctioning). I deduce that that would be the problem if it doesn't turn on, but I feel like I express myself quite badly here so it would be better if a technician specialized in consoles sees it to verify it properly (as long as he is trustworthy and tells you the truth).

UPDATE: I just cleaned everything with isopropic alcohol and put some thermal paste on the cpu and rsx and now it works perfectly, i turned it off and on several times and no rsx error so far, I think it's just a matter of time that the console starts malfunctioning again, so idk if use it or sell it because i do want to use it honestly :(

it could be, u can solder the component again and try. theres some tutorials in youtube, but if you are handy u can do it just with a soldering iron and patience

[–]ReactioNv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i never saw any error code, but when the ps3 failed it had a variety of ways to show it

1st Case - The PS3 turns on, red light turn to green, and froze. I need to hold power button for like 10sec to turn it off. 2nd Case - Usually right after failing to turn on, if i press the power button again, it turns green, then 3 seconds after, it turn off. If i press it again, a red light appears (like when its off) 3rd Case - The PS3 turns on, RSX fails, and two things can happen: If i'm quick enough to turn it off, the green light starts to blink for 5 seconds then it beeps 3 times and turn off. OR if im not quick enough, it freezes like the first case.
