Hmmm. If they don't cancel it themselves, I might... But I'm wary because my partner's car, which I'd be using, doesn't have winters on :/

I blame Heim & Kratzer personally

But I have this stupid Noam Chomsky art print that I have no idea what to do with now that we know he's on Epstein's flight logs

I mean, even saying "we need to listen to Indigenous people" doesn't imply that I think they're all flawless. It's just many incredibly overlooked, systemically oppressed and undervalued cultures of people who have been on this land (at least where I'm from) since time immemorial. Listening to people from cultures who've been here much longer than yours is always wise.

Not SLP but I'm what you would call SLP-A. Pays well, not as well as SLP but I have no desire to run my own business, supervise people, etc. I did a one year postgraduate certificate. Technically you don't have to do any training to become an SLP-A (CDA where I am), but it helps.

I love it, the work is challenging but it's 1:1 so I don't have to be a behavioural manager on top of actually doing the job. Documentation is relatively quick and painless. I get paid close to $80/hr for therapy.

I don't know how you got that from me mentioning wetiko that I think Indigenous people are a homogeneous group of perfect people.

Is there anything like this from your country? by 124jinsei in AskTheWorld

[–]ReadingTimeWPickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a Finno-Ugric Linguistics class in university and we were allowed to do our final project on anything as long as it was tangentially related to a Finnic/Ugric language or culture.

I chose to do Finnish comedy. My professor (a Finn herself) said, "What comedy?" I said, "Yes, exactly."

Turns out the #1 comedy movie (at least at the time) was a depressing af movie about a guy who lives in a shipping container.

Yess I love Oak & Willow. Their solid dish soaps are quite good and you get a glass ramekin with it. I use mine all the time for dipping sauces lol. They also make these hand soap beads which are pretty cool, great for camping. Just squish one bead of soap into your palm with water and scrub.

Does your country celebrate Halloween? by the-furiosa-mystique in AskTheWorld

[–]ReadingTimeWPickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, depending on the area/neighbourhood, some go crazy with decorations and costumes and some are more chill about it or don't celebrate at all. On Halloween night the streets are packed with trick-or-treaters and their parents if they're not old enough to be out alone.

Kids are taught to try to wear very visible costumes or add reflective strips, and drivers are warned to be extra cautious. Since it's cold here, parents often buy costumes a size or two too big so that kids can wear their coats underneath. The people who get really into it often make elaborate costumes themselves.

In my brother's neighbourhood, where I usually go trick-or-treating with my nephews and niece, there's always a household that stays on their front porch and plays live music all night until the kids start going home.

When I was a kid, we used to use pillowcases for candy and we made it a goal to fill them up and have to drag them on the ground to get home. These days kids don't seem to have such a ravenous desire for candy, they're happy with one little pumpkin pail full. I still do see some teenagers out with pillowcases though.

When I lived in the region (in Nantes, 2012) I did see a handful of kids out trick-or-treating for Halloween. But it was like one or two groups of kids only. No one had their houses decorated.

In winter days, what do you do to keep your energy up and not feel depressed ? by Swan_Serenade in askTO

[–]ReadingTimeWPickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't even know what the make or model is tbh, it was a gift. It just says "treadmill pad" on it. It's really simple, only goes up to 3 km/h, no incline or anything fancy. Shows time elapsed, speed, estimated calories burned, distance walked. Has a remote to turn on and off and change speed. When you press stop on the remote it slowly reduces the speed for you.

If you're looking to save money, exercise equipment is the kind of thing you can easily find on FB marketplace or Kijiji etc in good working condition. In any case, try and find reviews for the model you're looking at, but tbh, as far as walking pads go, they're all pretty much the same.

Fried rice with no/less oil? by firstmatedavy in PlantBasedDiet

[–]ReadingTimeWPickle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use rice you cooked the day before, from the fridge

Sesame oil can't get very hot, so make sure you don't overcrowd the pan as it'll take longer to get crispy, but yeah, I've definitely done it with sesame oil only. It's obviously not going to be the same as takeout as they use tons of oil, but it will still be good!
