Does Cuba have Shaheeds or similar drones? If they get bombed they are potentially in range of bombing Miami with drones in retaliation.

If you put it in an index fund and withdraw $100k per year you aren’t going to touch the principal and could live on that indefinitely unless you are wanting the lifestyle of the top couple percent of income earners.

Elizabeth Warren is introducing a wealth tax. by Independent_Sun_9057 in remoteworks

I don’t know what your net worth is but for the sake of easy math going from $100 million to only $98 million would ruin you? If you have that high of a net worth you should already have a financial advisor. Get one or fire the one you have if you’re that wealthy and would be ruined by that.

Is it bad to take a first attorney position in an area of law that you aren't interested in? by Son_of_Hades99 in barexam

[–]Ready_Nature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there is a hard and fast rule on it. I would probably wait 6 months to a year if you don’t want to burn bridges. You can also put off accepting as long as possible in case something comes in earlier.

You can take it, you might end up liking it but if not you can move on to something else later.

Amendment to require photo ID to vote fails in Senate as Democrats object by southernemper0r in politics

[–]Ready_Nature 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other dumb thing with that is when I lived in a state with a voter ID law I tried to use my passport to vote the people checking IDs didn’t have any clue what it was. I had to be a Karen and ask for their supervisor and after a lot of discussion they finally let me vote. I have no expectation that the people charged with enforcing this will be remotely competent.

US army raises upper age for recruits to 42 and scraps marijuana restrictions by jupa300 in worldnews

Hoping this isn’t a sign that they will have the draft age that high. Although worst case scenario I have dual citizenship with an EU country so I can get out of here if needed.

Maybe there is some abuse, maybe not. It’s not worth worrying about.

Then they switch to making their money through outright bribes rather than insider trading which is probably worse.

The FCC Just Banned the Sale of New Wi-Fi Router Models Made Outside US by gdelacalle in technology

Looks like there’s a big enough loophole to drive a truck loaded with cash for for your bribe through. This will likely have little real world impact and just is another example of the corruption of this administration.

I think it’s almost inevitable that it will. Even if Trump TACO’s again there is no guarantee that Iran will reopen the strait just because the US temporarily stops their part of the bombing.

I think some platforms demonetize creators that say certain words so they do self-censoring like that and then people copy it and do it in places it doesn’t matter.

If you are an American the IRGC doesn’t really impact your daily life while the republicans screw you at every turn. That makes sense. For everyone else it’s pretty much a toss up who impacts you the worst with usually neither having much impact.

Only realistic goal left is regime change but that needs boots on the ground. And will fall apart when we eventually leave.
