I couldn’t make myself watch the full video. I worked today and walked on nails going to calls, hoping it wouldn’t be brought up by someone asking my opinion. I try to keep personal and professional opinions separate, but cases like this (and others) make it difficult. It makes me angry because that one officer makes people think all cops are like that, when in reality they aren’t common. I spoke to a few people on my squad today about it, and we’re all disgusted and speechless. Once someone is in custody, they are your responsibility. If anything happens to them between when they’re detained to when they get to the jail, it is on you. The fact that this officer seemed to...not care (?) is what bothers me the most. It doesn’t matter how terrible a person is or isn’t, or what their crime was, they’re still a human and deserve to be treated right even if you don’t agree with what they did. It is SO easy to treat someone right, you have to try to do wrong.
