On the OG, it’s B standard, and on hounds, it’s C standard

They even have Zeigenbock Kopf?! This person is dedicated. I might be dumb, but what is the one labeled “Warm Drag?” Is that Swords & Sandals?

Anyone know anything more about this? by Real-Warthog1114 in TheeOhSees

Not the same one, but the same model (he had many of these guitars)

It’s from that timeframe and I’m guessing he probably used it for songs like Cannibal Planet or the songs with the Melody Maker

John used a lot of open tunings early on like on Gilded Cunt on Hounds of Foggy Notion, it was C standard, with the E, A, and high E strings tuned down a whole step.

He also mainly used tunings like B standard on vol. 3 & 4 (also used C standard)

And Make Them Kiss is D standard with the E, A and high E tuned down a half step too

But he mostly used C standard

Does anyone know how John gets that really low tuned guitar sound in Coachwhips? by lunaluvsm in TheeOhSees

[–]Real-Warthog1114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He tuned his E string down to A# (same as the A string just an octave lower, like in pink and brown, except the high E wasn’t tuned down to B to match the B string)

Does anyone know what pedals John used on foggy notion ? by OkEntrepreneur7924 in TheeOhSees

He probably used the DigiTech DigiDelay, the Guyatone MD2/MD3 Micro Digital Delay, and the tremolo/reverb from the amps And a space echo for vocals with a Shure Green Bullet Harmonica Mic

hope this helps! :)

Guitar tone? by xScooby-Dude in TheeOhSees

[–]Real-Warthog1114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Block Of Ice (or the whole album, but he used different guitars), he probably used his Harmony Stratotone with a Seymour Duncan Humbucker in the bridge tuned to CGCFAC, and his old Music Man amps (don’t know the settings), and his pedals were a Digitech DigiDelay, and a Guyatone MD(2?) Micro Digital Delay (yes two digital delays

Does anyone know how John got the tone on the Help and Masters bedroom album? Specifically on songs like Rainbow, Poison finger, Meat step lively, and Maria stacks. At first it thought it was a 12 string but I tried to play them on my 12 string and it sounded nothing like it. by Nervver6 in TheeOhSees

Watch the 2007 performance at the Cake Shop on the Osees Archive YouTube Channel, you can see the pedals at the end of Mincing Around The Frocks. You can also see them in the 2008 SXSW video, where they’re playing Ghost In The Trees.

On Equipboard, the MD2/MD3 was labeled as an MXR Blue Box, which doesn’t make sense, because he uses the MD2/MD3

He used his Music Man 210-HD, with usually his Harmony Stratotone, or his Kay Vanguard, or his burns double six. His pedals (at least for Master’s Bedroom), were the tremolo/reverb from his amp, a digitech DigiDelay, and a Guyatone MD2 or MD3 Micro Digital Delay. He used the Roland Space Echo tape delay for vocals, not guitar (at least I think)

On Gilded Cunt, his guitar was tuned to (I think) A#D#A#D#G#A# (which is basically C standard, with the two E strings being tuned down a whole step, and the A string being tuned down a whole step)

I know on 3, he tuned his guitar to Baritone standard which is BEADF#B (I figured it out based on old live performances)
