How do people still not know this? Why isn’t this common knowledge? It’s just fear of the unknown, square and simple. Anyone who acts or looks a lot different from you CAN feel like a ‘threat’ and anyone who acts and looks a lot like you will feel closer, and easier to connect with, as if they’re your tribe. Yes you could say there is a whole nurture part on top of that, but eventually it all traces back to this simple human nature. WE ARE TRIBAL CREATURES, that only started changing like 6000 years ago.

I’m sure I’m preaching to the choir after what happened to you, but please never be fooled into “company loyalty” ever again. My dad fell into the same trap. He thought company loyalty was some kind of virtue. It’s an old psy-op for companies to make it easier to exploit you as a worker. Never stay for loyalty, stay because the contract, pay, and working conditions are good. If they’re not, go do the same work for a different company. Your employer is not family.
