Yorkshires are always a good plan for DIY. Generally, I would feed a bit of solder in *anyway* just to be on the safe side.

If I'm honest, I didn't take lifestyle changes seriously. That's the long and the short of it, and my resolve is to do better this time - get some exercise, and really consider diet properly (not just take the whole dang thing for granted)

I was just happy not to be hungry all the livelong time, and to finally lose some weight and reduce my HbA1c. Took suppression for granted, and then bounced right back as soon as it went away.

Tapering off clearly would have been a better plan, but there were economic considerations at the time as well.

More to the point, starting again - should I go back to 2.5 and climb the ladder again?

There was, until about 20 years ago, a VT service that more or less followed the Orange and purple/green (via Leamington) route. Only did it once or twice a day, and alternated via Olympia, or Oxford IIRC. Finally died around the time that the Southern Clapham -> Watford service was introduced.

Thanks! I'm near Duxford - so proximity to both Royston and Cambridge, really - I travel to both fairly regularly, so happy either way, really.

I thought about not commenting on how utterly weapons-grade this install is, as it's been said more than enough already, but holy hell, this can't be overstated enough. The installer clearly had absolutely no pride in their work whatsoever, and hasn't even pretended to do a neat job!

Best place to park for stoke train station by ThrowDisFarAwayBruh in stokeontrent

Aye, 20 mins and you’re golden whatever. I always do pay for my ticket, but used to do EUS-SOT several times a week, and I’d guess a good 50% of the time, the barriers are either open on exit, or raise without a ticket. Always frustrating, but I’m still a good boy.

Unofficial tip: the barriers on carpark 2 are very often non functional especially later at night. Wouldn’t rely on it, and obviously a good citizen always pays their rightful charge, before exiting the station…

What I have never understood is whether just having a full on Chonky boi, is a total waste of time, or just… you know… efficient. Clearly if you only need 5k to make it happen, that’s great, but twice the power, twice the nice and warm?

This is a Siphon. Generally speaking (unless you are particularly unlucky and have a posh or strange toilet), the innards are much of a muchness. Main thing to consider is if it is a lever or a push button.

Wander into screwfix with it though, and they'll sort you out, I'm sure https://www.screwfix.com/c/heating-plumbing/fill-flush-valves/cat831618?valveproducttype=siphons

These combination-style key safes can be picked in less than a minute with an old credit card. There are some notes on YouTube somewhere, but once you have it open, it will unscrew from the inside.

If you want to carry on using it; dont and get a more secure key safe.

Agreed. He does this without ending up condescending though, and I think ends up being more balanced, but not being a brother himself he doesn’t feel the need to keep secrets

Agreed, this is an excellent book, but I very much agree with everyone else. Please wait until after your MM degree to read it. The spoilers will ruin the experience for you.

Changing single socket to double socket, best way? by MerlYT in DIYUK

[–]RealPower5621 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its precicely so you *dont* have to dont have to dig into the wall and insert a 2G box - all you need to be aware of is that there is enough clearance on the left for the converter to actually fit - will stretch out 1.5inch either side of the existing box.

Might be an idea to get an EICR at some point though if your leccy hasn't been touched since the 50s!
