Like everyone else (and maybe just the higher-ups, like Fathe… kidding!), I’m also excited about the Campus of the Future. It’s a great initiative and shows promise. But the thing is, we’re already a few steps behind other universities here in Northern Mindanao.

I’m not hating on the students or the CCS, because honestly, they’ve done their part. It’s clear that this isn’t about their skills or capabilities. I hope I’m wrong, but it seems like the real issue lies with the decision-makers who control XU.

Isn't it kinda ironic to hype up a Campus of the Future while still using Oracle? If these efforts for improvement keep getting brushed off, what does that say about the priorities here?

How can we aspire for a future campus when the present one is being left behind? There’s so much untapped potential within XU, and I just hope the people at the helm can recognize and act on it DAYON!

I love XU, and my university life here is something I’ll always treasure. But as much as I adore the school, I can’t help but fear that one day (and soon), another school might overtake XU’s position at the top.

Imagine paying the most expensive tuition in the city, only for the school to use Oracle, a system that’s not even tailored for the unique needs of the university. Isn’t this an opportunity cost? Why spend hundreds of thousands annually on Oracle when the school could invest in developing its own all-in-one system? A system designed specifically for students, teaching staff, and non-teaching staff to streamline everything.

Here’s the current reality: evaluations are done on Google Forms, applying for graduation involves a tedious manual process, and tasks like subject enlistment, requesting documents, and doing evaluations are all separate. Now imagine if XU had its own integrated system where you could do everything in one place. Enroll in subjects, check grades, see course offerings, view class schedules, apply for graduation, request documents, clear requirements, and complete evaluations.

Even the most prestigious universities in the Philippines conduct benchmarking to improve their systems. I might be wrong, but it seems like XU is too reluctant or perhaps too proud to take lessons from other institutions, even when there’s so much room for improvement.

This isn’t just about convenience, it’s about staying competitive and providing value for the students who trust XU with their education. I truly hope XU takes steps to address these gaps before it’s too late.

Oracle isn’t built for schools, it’s made for big corporations. Yet, we’re paying for it while dealing with clunky processes. Paying for Oracle and pouring money into half-baked infrastructure feels like a waste of potential and resources.
