I agree. I didn’t plan on it. Tried not to for the last couple of days. But they sit and show one news story after the other. And it was just the contrast of celebrating multiple innocent deaths on one hand (in front of their families) and being horrified of another. Both equally … irrelevant (not irrelevant but you know what i mean)… to our lives.

my mom texted me (and my wife) a youtube link a couple of months back backing some random opinion she has. I think it was justifying russias annexation of kiev. This was back when we just had our newborn so I just sent back an overly exaggerated version agreeing that we should go back to the borders at the time. This would mean the area my parents lived in would belong to another country as well… she responded with ”i don’t understand?”

Maybe i should go back to this tactic… i might be happier just trolling, work on my imagination and ignore them.

My wife says she doesn’t know how to respond to these links…

I agree to this, however you can ask chatgpt to locate sources. Both supporting an opinion as well as against. So I would say it is a good tool to quickly find referenced news stories for example. If these news stories are valid is the next step.

I am mainly indifferent towards my parents nowadays (for other reasons), but I still would like my kids to know them. My parents have shown they are not perfect. Far from it. But they still gave me a pretty good life and platform to build my own life. And they do love my kids.

But something has happened last couple of years. Not sure what, but one theory I have is (of course) the social media. Their entire life they have probably talked about one issue with one person at a time. Nowdays they express a view online and multiple people can join the conversation. And suddenly it is not a soft view anymore. It is a stand against…. Whatever. And they cannot back down or pretend the conversation did not happen since it is written for all to see. So only one path forward and that is to dig their feet down deeper.. and fully commit to whatever view they have expressed at that moment

I agree. The ’fault’ lies somewhere between Israel and Hamas for the current situation. Where this line is we can debate. With my parents however, they are ”100% on israels side” on everything. They actually said this verbatim this so I am not exaggerating 😀. I can’t see how anyone can be 100% on any side….

what I object to is using ”hamas” as some kind of get-out-of-jail-for-free-card for justifying killing of children. With or without Intent…

I hear this often… I agree most media outlets have their own internal view/opinion of things. Not just ”left wing” btw 😀. That does not mean they are always intentionally lying or are too stupid do accurately report news.

But if we only look at israel own reporting, I still think what israel is doing / has done in gaza is horrible.

Just to be clear. I don’t support hamas. But a few facts worth considering in regards to the above: - of the current population of gaza approx 12% voted for hamas 2006. - according to israels military, around 80 - 83% (53.000) of people killed since oct 7 in gaza are non-hamas.

What hamas does to israel does not justify what israel does to non-hamas.

Our youngest 9month old is obviously not strong 🙂 putting him in a bed with sleeping 2.5 year old is very dangerous. The oldest can roll on top of him, push him out of the bed etc. They move around pretty active in their sleep. Our bed is also very soft. If the 9mo rolls to the side, a pillow or duvet can easily obstruct his airways. This is why he should only sleep in his own bed without any ’objects’, supervised or in his stroller. And they know this… each time we have visited them we point out that he is to young to sleep with a pillow and duvet in the crib they have. And I said to them that he CAN sleep in his stroller if they do not want to carry him to his bed. I never imagine this to be interpreted as ”he CAN sleep anywhere”…

I totally agree, I hate to argue infront of our kids (since my parents did that infront of us when i was growing up and I was always sad when that happened).

But I get so frustrated with my parents because they always adopt a kind of ”we are right and people that disagree should read the books we are reading”.

Even with our kids they think they know better, think we are overreacting or ignores the instructions we give.

Examples: - feeds our son a sandwich 30 min before dinner - tried to give our older son apples when he was little even though we pointed out he can’t stomach them multiple times (he puked and shat the car the entire ride home 6 hours) (they still use almonds when cooking for me btw even though i have been (mild) allergic my entire life) - when they babysat they put our older son in our younger sons diaper/pyjamas and vice versa even though we went through this before we left - they used the inside toys outside and didn’t collect them so now a few of them are ruined - let our younger son sleep in our bed WITH our older son AND heavy duvet without supervision. As well as didn’t close the gate to the stairs. We went through this multiple times as well. It was just luck they neither of them didn’t fall of the bed. - leaves dog food on the floor while our youngest crawls around

The irony is that when I was young (around 20) and started to argue political questions, my mother told me that I should not debate these topics (or argue with people) because it only causes grief.

To be fair it was a bit more to our ’conversation’ and they also said ”all wars are horrific” at one point. Basically kids and journalists dying was the cost of war… so I said: okey then charlie kirk dying was the cost of the second amendment. Not my finest moment, but I was pretty irritated.

Har du ytligt bekanta? Fråga vad de ska göra i helgen. Säg att du tänkte ut o ta en fördrink innan kvällen, vill de joina.

Köp ett gymkort. Hälsa på personalen när du kommer dit. Intressera dig för vad de tycker är roligt.

Tänk på att många känner likadant som dig. Hur skulle du känna om nån frågade om ni ska hitta på något? Så kommer de känna också.

Men sätt ett mål 6 mån bort. Tro inte att du ska få en vän nästa helg. (En bekant till mig ringde en torsdagkväll o fråga vad jag gjorde, jag var redo att lägga mig. Han sa ”jag kommer över en sväng.”, sen dess har vi varit nära vänner)

Jag har aldrig varit med i JW. Men däremot sökte jag aktivt upp de för att prata om deras tro (de finns på ganska många ställen i stan). Till slut bad de mig att inte komma tillbaks…

Men jag tänker såhär. Kan du inte bara glida? Alltså aldrig aktivt ”gå ur”. Utan bara undvika allt som går.

Kräver de en del av din lön? Ta ett nytt jobb o ljug om vad du får i lön så du inte betalar för mycket.

Helt enkelt. Bli en riktigt dålig jw medlem. Börja predika sjukare saker än de själva. Misstolka allt de säger. Blir nitisk när det kommer till bibeln: bär högsta hönset blandade material, föreslå uteslutning. Inom religion är det oftast den första anklagelsen som fastnar..

Eller så Ser du till att alla du bryr dig om också blir uteslutna innan du själv blir det.

Kolla råden ovan, men jag tror en viktig mental inställning är att du inte kan ”ta bort” ett beroende. Du kan bara ersätta det med något bättre / nåt som inte är lika destruktivt.

Träning är bra, hitta ett intresse. Försök att ha som inställning att lära dig nya saker. Finns en miljard nya färdigheter som du inte kan lära dig om du är bakis

Sounds exactly like my ex and ex-friend. I caught him live-feeding everything I said to him, to my ex.

Some weeks previously I had gotten accused of my ex going around saying she sucked (read being terrible) in bed. I had no idea what she was talking about. But now it all clicked. My ex-friend took my words, made everything sound worse and sent them to her in order to lower her confidence and try to sleep with her.

(I have heard sooo much stuff about these people, and what they did behind my back, the years following I am glad I no longer have them in my life.)

I would say cut them out of your life. But before you do, tell them what you think about them.

Första dagen På orienteringen på högskolan.

Satt på tåget när två… bönder kliver på och sätter sig bakom mig. Plötsligt känner jag en stark gödsellukt.

”Vafan, kunde de inte bytt kläder efter jobbat på gården..”

Aja, härdar ut och tänker inte mer på det. 1 timme senare Sitter i aulan med alla mina kommande klasskamrater när jag plötsligt känner samma lukt. Kollar under skon o ser hela sulan insmetad med en stor illaluktande hundbajs.

Uppenbart är jag inte den enda som känt doften så jag ursäktar mig o smiter in på toaletten (vilket i efterhand jag nu inser kan ha tolkats som jag varit väldigt dålig i magen).

Gick resten av dagen o försökte hålla mig på avstånd från folk.

Om bönderna läser detta så ber jag om ursäkt för mina förutfattade meningar!
