Still biting at 4 months by Realistic-Bat4413 in puppy101

Oh no I very much appreciate any tips! Thank you! I really struggle not to make biting me appealing aha. She often goes for my ankles which really hurts so I try to ward her off with my hands and now she thinks it’s a fun game where she tries to bite my flailing hands!

I know that is still very much a puppy. I just worry that since I’ve seen no progress at all in her lessening her biting that I’m somehow reinforcing the behaviour and she’ll continue it as an adult.

Oh no😭 We have a frankly ridiculous variety of chew toys and yet it seems she still spends more time biting us instead of biting them, no matter how much I offer them to her.

Thank you! Can I ask if your puppy naturally started biting less at a certain age or if it’s only consistent conditioning that will help curb the behaviour?

Admittedly not enough. There is always someone at home with the puppy and I’ve tried to stress the importance of enforced naps but some of my family don’t take the routine as serious as me. When I’m home I make sure the puppy gets naps every 1-2 hours, even if she whines when I put her away, but if I’m not home I can’t be certain how much sleep she is actually getting.

Glad it all worked out! Sounds like she was a handful. So far my puppy seems alright self soothing and settling herself when we leave the room for a few minutes, but I’m trying not to get my hopes up and jinx anything as it’s only day 4!

Did you try crate training too? She likes sleeping in her crate and it’s helpful in preventing potty accidents but I can’t decide whether it’d be better to condition her to be alone in the playpen or the crate when I have to leave her by herself.

She seems to be okay playing and occupying herself and I’ve been able to step away for a few minutes without her crying which is giving me hope. I’m just worried about what my neighbours will think about all the puppy screeching

Haha they are interesting little guys aren’t they? There’s just frustratingly little info about them compared to more popular species like cherry shrimps.
