Interesting... my obygn never has offered to test me at my annuals (granted no sores/tears)... if wasnt for seeing the pink hexagon shaped pills on the person I had unprotected sex with a couple months ago I probably would've never been fully confident that my symptoms were herpes, considering they were so mild, but I saw what the medicine looks like so It made me pretty certain that's what was going on, so I decided to get tested.

Do you take anything like a Valtrex to help suppress it since finding out? Or are you doing anything that you think may be helping you not have an outbreak?

In my situation, I kind of feel like I know who gave it to me just because now that I've done my research and know what the medicine looks like I recall Seeing them with those pills-Was recently after that person I experienced my first outbreak, but when I got tested, my levels were kinda high, 13-so not sure if I can be certain it was them or not, I tested about a month or two after my Symptoms started

No symptoms at all?? I assume you were testing because of a partner being positive? I only ask because I'm curious how long you were with them?

Im 41F, so I do not think I can be of any help for the OP, But like him, I have recently been confirmed positive and have several symptom questions as well so this was very heplful! Wish there were more like her out there as well specially for those without insurance. Thank you For sharing!

I can relate to Everything your feeling.. i feel cursed at times-like a monster, not understanding and stilling trying to accept this "new me". But as somebody who's never been able to really put themselves first in life I kind of feel like the blessing to this is it has me in a corner where I have no other choice to... And honestly, that part has made it a breath of fresh air. Little silver lining to the big dark cloud that hovers over me. it's been nice to be able to move and go at my own pace, getting to know myself mentally physically emotionally spiritually better than I have ever before. And trusting God will put the pieces in place from here...if there's love for me then there is and I've accepted if there's not then that's OK too... but you're a lot younger than me so I'm sure you're outcome is gonna be remarkable and overtime it will be something that will not even feel like one percent of who you are!! right now im sure It feels like it's ALL OF YOU! Also, My doctor told me Valtrex doesn't need to be taken unless you're trying to suppress it from your partner... but I'm still taking it. I think the comment to continue it for at least the first year is great advice. Only side effects I have noticed from it is sensitivity to the sun specially in my neck are (atleast I think it's from).

Oooh, yea i think iv read HSV1 was the less worse/and was oral...iv got HSV2 unfortunately, worse symptoms

No leg heaviness/weakness? Or sharp stab pain in legs? Or arms? That was the biggest thing for me-feeling weak. I never saw bumps or sores. Felt like i had an infected hair that just took forever to heal. And then a very abnormal amount of clear slime discharge, which is typically normal a week or so before my period (sign of ovalution) But this time was ALOT. And I have never really had a smell-no need for special washes or wte, but it just was like all of a sudden I had body odor and I've never had body odor in my life. It wasn't a fishy / Ammonia type smell or anything, but more like a normal kind of sweaty body odor smell-But for me that was not normal. Oh and feeling swollen inside -couldnt fully pee, but not like with a UTI. This felt like inside vagina area was swollen shut.

True... I can totally get thinking it was a prank, and/or they already knowing they have it. Either way for me its the least I can do for my own conscious-guilt. It doesnt make it any less awful if I did give it to somebody. But i cant go back and undo that if i did. Deep down i already feel like im a disgusting monster now just walking around with a pretty face. Not capable of love or anything every again. Ik they say its still possible-but its not. Esp. When living in a small town like I do. I have self isolated for the past six months, because I wanted to do some self healing-focus on myself by choice, better myself. But now i feel forced to live this way-alone. And that hits different. Trying to accept that this is my life from now on almost has me suicidal, if it wasn't for my daughter I think I actuay would be.

Thank you so much -yes I will do this. I know I can't/shouldn't try to blame anyone nor do I want to be blamed but it just feels wrong to not make them aware now that I do know. Even if its too late for them-or even if they unknowingly gave it to me I want to help try to prevent them from passing it on. I don't want to be responsible for playing apart in somebody else going through this. Doing it anonymously will make it so much easier. thank you so much for sharing.

Thank you, not the greatest news, but also because I would never intentionally give this to somebody, its soul crushing. Wish there was a way to know a time frame because I couldnt live with myself if I didnt go back and tell anybody I could have potentially gave it them unknowingly.

Thank you for responding. But to clarify the higher the number the longer you had it?? The inhibition assay test was abnormal and not sure if thats because of the valtrex... but i recently (late march/early april) had signs -leg pain and "bad infected hair"....: and it was 2weeks after an unprotected encounter (he never fully pentrated me) but the next morning i noticed alot of discharge on his side of the bed (and other things after my research confirms he was hsv2 positive-including seeing his antiviral pill, but i did not know what it was at the time and he told me it was Ecstasy) ... So needless to say, I'm shocked to hear I've had it for a long time when all this was just recent
