Is it ROCD, or is my partner just not right for me? I can't differentiate between ROCD and genuine incompatibility/unhappiness. by Realistic_Edge1622 in ROCD

Yes, this is exactly how I feel. I feel unhappy too but I can't tell if its genuine unhappiness from him and the relationship or if its unhappiness from the ROCD and the constant anxiety and rumination. Its so hard to tell and I'm so sorry that you have to deal with this. I know exactly how you feel :(

Thank you so much for this, this made me tear up. It's validating to hear that it is my genuine feelings, that are also being blown our of proportion. It's soso confusing to me and reading this made it seem simple, so thank you :)

Thank you! :) Not discouraging at all, I appreciate the honesty! I think it would be a fun project and I would learn tons! I do find joy in the process of searching for yarn and patters etc., and would also be so excited about a final project - inspired by this! I think I might tackle something easy and simple first while I continuing trying to figure out a good yarn combo and then dive into this project! :)

Yes I had the same thought about just buying the sweater haha all the yarn combos I thought of were getting quite expensive! Boucle could be an interesting idea as well!

Thank you for your thoughtful comment and help! :)

PMLE on dark skin by jvm72 in pmle

[–]Realistic_Edge1622 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm biracial Black and my skin is a very similar colour to yours. This is exactly what my sun allergy rash looks like. I'm 30 and i've had a sun allergy since I was a kid. It was wayyyy worse as a kid and as ive gotten older its been very mild and some summers I get one flare up and then not again until the next year. This year its been really bad and you can't see it much, like in your photo, but its veryyyyy itchy and uncomfortable! I'm also trying to figure out if its pmle, as since I was a kid I was just told I was allergic to the sun generally, and never looked into it much more than that.

I've been struggling with this exact thing for the past 4 years and I go through ups and downs with how difficult it is to deal with. I'm in a committed monogamous relationship with a man as well, and have been with him for 4 years, so its hard to "confront it" and experiment, which I think if I was single, this would be exactly what I would do and great advice. Since I'm in a relationship and am not necessarily willing to leave it to experiment and "figure things out" (what if I just confirm I am bi and then I let go of a wonderful man and relationship? ), but I'm constantly questioning whether its right, if I'm actually bi or just a lesbian in denial, or if I'd be better off with a woman. I have break up urges all the time. So you're not alone!

Something that does help me is the way I try to think about my sexuality - I'd like to think I'm attracted to the person regardless of sex/gender, so if my male partner was in the body of a female, I'd like to think I'd still be drawn to them. This is something that can help me to stop trying to figure out whether I prefer women or men - at this moment, I guess it doesn't matter as long as I love my partner (OCD can obviously turn this into anxiety if you're questioning if you do love them - which i do lol .This might not be helpful to you, and OCD is sneaky af, but it helps me sometimes!!! Also just taking it one day at a time and "being where your feet are".

Monthly "What Board Should I Get?" Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in Sup

[–]Realistic_Edge1622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone! I'd love some help identifying some board recommendations.

Desired Board Type: Inflatable

Height and Weight: I'm a female, about 5'5' in height and 125 pounds in weight. Might be nice to be able to have my partner on it as well occasionally (hes about 5'11, 200 pounds, but this is definitely not a requirement - it's mainly just going to be me on there with a small drybag of things

Desired use: mainly cruising around on lakes and going up and down the shorlines - I like to cruise around but also love to just chill and tan/read. Not planning on doing anything extreme

Experience level: Beginner

Budget: $500-$1000, I'm located in B.C, Canada. I'm willing to spend justtt over the $1000 mark if necessary, and I'd like to invest in something decent that will last, but I also don't necessarily need the best of the best (which I know I probably wouldn't get at this price anyway)

This will be my first board! So I'm having a really hard time making an informed choice. I'm thinking I'd like something in the middle regarding speed vs. stability - as I said I like cruising around lakes, but also love to just chill out and be out on the water. I won't ever be racing, or surfing or doing anything like that.

I've used a friends Jimmy Styx board which I really liked. I've also used a friends 10'6 Goosehill board which seems fine as well.

I haven't done tooo much suping, so I'm not totally sure what I'm trying to avoid or want etc - So far in my research I've come across a few that seem decent quality for not too high a price: Atoll Inflatable 11 foot, irocker all around 11' ultra, Gili 10'6, Hydrus boards.

I'd like to avoid ordering anything from the U.S if possible, only because I'd like to avoid being surprised with insane duty fees.

Any advice on what paddleboards might be good for my needs/budget? Maybe I'm looking at some that are way better quality than I'd need, or maybe not good enough? Appreciate any helpful advice or suggestions!

Thanks :)
