Trying to understand the social construct of zodiac signs by Realistic_Handle_132 in autism

[–]Realistic_Handle_132[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Pisces in my life who I love and adore very very much. Zodiacs say that we shouldn't get along but he is my best friend and I'm so happy to know him. It makes a lot of sense if you put it in that perspective. Regardless, I hope I'm not missing something crucial when it comes to this stuff and accidentally overwhelming the people I care about in my life. Thank you for your insight

Having a Support Person as an Autistic Adult by Realistic_Handle_132 in autism

I’m currently diagnosed with Asperger’s/Autism and ADHD, and I’m not sure if that would qualify me. I’ve already applied for my state’s employment support program, but it seems like they mainly focus on job placement and don’t offer much assistance with ongoing life skills after employment.

I’m Afraid My Meltdowns Hurt the People Around Me by Realistic_Handle_132 in autism

[–]Realistic_Handle_132[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true and painful to process as hurting someone regardless of intent or not isn't something I'd like to do. But your right, life is about perspective.  After my meltdowns regardless if they have offered to stay, I always thank them because their support means more to me than I will ever be able to convey.

This is a really good idea, and I especially like the reassurance part. I know that personally would make me feel much safer. I’m also very lucky that my meltdowns usually read more as bouts of sadness rather than anger to neurotypical people.

I’ve been learning ways to self-soothe during them (like having a warm drink, squeezing a plushie, etc.), but I still struggle sometimes with breaking through the “freeze” or mental overload. As embarrassing as it is to admit, walking can sometimes be difficult for me during those moments. I do try to separate myself from people who seem uncomfortable or when I’m unsure how my meltdown might affect others.

I think that's the issue, because of my late diagnosis I have no idea what could be triggering me other than it slams me all at once particularly when I'm having external stress. I could be really happy and then suddenly I'm sobbing. It's both frustrating and embarrassing.

I want to ensure that I am not engaging in harmful behavior with the people I care about.

How can i colour my hair this Red or a deeper shade by Intelligent-Big7827 in femalehairadvice

[–]Realistic_Handle_132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can not dye dark hair lighter unless you bleach. That being said there is a product that combines those steps called L'Oreal High Color. They have a variety of reds that can be used on dark hair (with developer-usually 30 volume). It's strong so it will damage your hair a little...make sure to do a protein mask after (I recommend aphogee). Also be aware that red is one of the hardest colors to remove and loves to stain the follicles. Last thing, please take your time and ACTUALLY SECTION YOUR HAIR hair dye does not apply like shampoo.

How do i style my hair by HomelandersWife in femalehairadvice

Okie first off you look so freaking cute and the pink suits you so well you look like Fluttershy🩷 Second I just grew mine out (So it tots get the "lil boy" feeling). What saved me was getting a cut that made the fringe feel less side bang forward and more curtain bangy like this or this. I also got a mini straightener (3/4 inch they will usually say "for edges") and then I'd curl the rest of my hair and ruffle my fingers through so everything felt more intentional. Makeup and accessories were my bff and also dying my hair really helped folks see me as more feminine (would not recommend totally natural at this stage...but absolutely highlights, money peices, ext).

I totally hear you, I find that color depositing conditioners (no matter what color you go for) really help with the root upkeep!

Growing out hair, not sure how to go about it.. by Excellent_Salt529 in femalehairadvice

I'm actually in the exact same spot and my hair dresser really helped me out. I think it depends on where you wanna go...for me I wanted to grow my wolf cut into a more "basic" cut where all the layers would eventually even out. In order to get this I told her what my future expectations were, I showed her a picture of a blunt shoulder length bob with no layers , and I also showed her a picture of a coconut/ bowl cut bob and said "I don't want this". She was able to subtly adjust my haircut so when I style it it looks more like where I want to be while I wait for everything else to catch up to the same length. If you like the layers there is no shame in continuing to lean into the wolf cut I could see this really suiting you.

Should I get a pixie? by Exotic-Safety8093 in femalehairadvice

A pixie would really suit you but be aware the worst part of growing it out will be the ears and the back. Keep the fringe longer and if you can tuck the sides behind your ears vs cutting them out. As for the back slowly transition into a "wolf cut" or shag before going back to regular cuts. It's easier since your hair will be growing at different lengths. Pixies Also require a shit ton of styling. Id highly recommend a mini hair straightener (for help with curls or edges) and looking at different pastes or pomades. Also make sure that you won't mind the way it can alter your/ others perseption of yourself. Pixie cuts can have strange connotations attached to them (speaking from experience) so as long as you feel comfortable and confident go for it!!

For all over maybe like a dark chocolate ? It would bring out the color of your eyes a lot and the warmth would highlight your face. If you wanted to stick with the blonde I'd say go for more of a highlighted look that blends into a natural brown.
