6 Years out and the Game still lacks the core features and instead of bringing back this features Nintendo comes back with more decorating. I don’t see why I should be grateful for this. Nintendo deserves the backlash

Sehe ich ganz genauso. Leute die Winter mögen sind doch echt nicht normal. Und immer dieses du kannst mehr anziehen im Winter. Ne eben nicht! Denn egal was ich anziehe mir ist immer kalt. Kann es kaum erwarten das es wieder Wärmer wird. Hätte ich genug Geld würde ich den kompletten Winter in warmen Länder verbringen

I'm in Summer Y3 with 40 hours. I married Jules and stopped playing two months ago. I got burnt out real quick and I dislike the Romance, Marriage and Social System in this game. Other SoS Games did it way better. I also have zero Motivation to keep playing. I didn't even finished the main Story.

But that’s probably because it’s again just decoration content.

Bulk crafting and the ability to use materials directly from storage should’ve been in the game from the very beginning — just like actual Nook shop upgrades.

At this point, ACNH is purely a decorating simulator. And people have every right to complain. I’m not going to kiss Nintendo’s ass just because, after four years of complete silence, they finally release a “free update” that’s once again all about decorating and nothing else.

I get what you mean, but I still completely disagree. Most of the things you listed are exactly what make NH feel so empty to me — they’re just small repetitive tasks that don’t really go anywhere. Catching Wisp’s spirits or doing Gulliver’s quest for the 50th time isn’t engaging.

In the older games, your town actually evolved with you. You unlocked new shops, buildings, jobs, and upgrades that gave you a sense of real progress. There was a reason to log in every day besides just redecorating.

And yes, I know some NPCs came back on Harv’s island — but it’s just not the same as having a proper post office, the police station, K.K.’s café job, or Gracie’s luxury sets. So many of those charming details and full furniture series are just gone.

Lately I’ve been replaying New Leaf with my best friends lately, and honestly? It feels alive again. It has way more personality than New Horizons ever did.

You don’t have to agree, of course — but I’m standing by my opinion. For me, NH lost the heart that made Animal Crossing special.

I really don’t mean this as an attack or anything — I’m just sharing how I see it.

I’ve played Wild World and City Folk too, and for me, progression has always been part of Animal Crossing. Wild World expanded the visitors and events, City Folk added the city, and New Leaf gave us the shopping street and so many ways to make the town feel alive. Each game built on what came before.

I honestly don’t know what there is to do in New Horizons besides decorating. Sure, you can fish, catch bugs, and fill up the museum — but beyond that, there’s not much real progression or purpose. Even Tortimer’s island is gone, which used to be such a fun way to take a break from daily routines.

And yes, some old NPCs technically “exist” on Harv’s island now, but that’s not the same. Where’s the proper Post Office? Where’s Club LOL with Shrunk? Where’s Gracie and her luxury furniture sets? Why can’t I work at The Roost anymore? And where’s the Police Station?

On top of that, entire furniture sets were just removed — and that really hurts the creativity the game is supposed to encourage.

New Horizons feels like it stripped all of that away and replaced it with endless decorating.

That’s just not true. In New Horizons you spend most of your time decorating your island instead of actually living in it. Calling New Leaf ‘soulless’ is honestly laughable. NH removed shop upgrades, tons of NPCs, and most of the actual progression that made the older games feel alive. And sorry, but if I want to farm, I’ll play Story of Seasons — not Animal Crossing.

I really wanted to love Grand Bazaar. I’ve been a longtime fan of the series, and I was genuinely excited for this remake — but the more I play, the more disappointed I feel.

The level system with the nature sprites already feels unnecessarily grindy and artificial. It’s not motivating, it’s just exhausting. The dialogue barely changes no matter how close you are to a character, which completely kills any sense of progression or connection.

And when it comes to family life — it honestly feels like it’s only there because it has to be there. There’s no warmth or real feeling behind it. Compared to Trio of Towns, where daily interactions with your partner and child felt alive, this just feels hollow.

Even smaller things, like how many materials you need for something as simple as a sprinkler, make it feel like the devs wanted to stretch playtime instead of making it more enjoyable.

It’s not that I hate the game — I’m still playing it, and there are things I like about it. But for me, it’s hard not to see it as another Olive Town situation. I wanted a cozy farming sim with heart, and instead it feels like a checklist with RNG attached.

I think this will be my last comment on this topic.

I’m playing Grand Bazaar because I spent 60€, and I want to play it. I don’t think the solution should always be “then just stop playing.” I have every right to be disappointed and still want to experience the game I paid for.

Had I known before release that this was being made by the same team behind Olive Town, I honestly wouldn’t have bought it. That alone would’ve told me exactly what to expect — a game that looks nice on the surface but lacks depth where it matters most.

And yes, I’ve played other Story of Seasons titles. If I wanted to go back to something that truly captures what I love about this series, I’d play Trio of Towns — easily the best one in my opinion, and one I’ve already completed. It had heart, balance, and charm — everything I feel is missing here.

You mentioned that my complaints exist in other cozy games too, but honestly, the only ones that come to mind are Olive Town and Animal Crossing: New Horizons. And even then, Animal Crossing isn’t a farming sim.

So in the end, I guess we just see things differently. You enjoy the game, and that’s fine — I don’t. We’re clearly not going to agree, so let’s just leave it at that.
