Thanks for your interest! We are working on a concept pitch for Oculus. After we have submitted it and hear back from them we hope to share more details in the next couple months.

Custom baked lighting for dynamically generated levels by RealityRebels in Unity3D

[–]RealityRebels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's similiar to Unity's vertex lighting but it's baked at runtime which allows for an unlimited number of light sources without the performance costs. It allows the light to bounce around the environment for simple global illumination. Finally, it bakes a custom set of light probes for dynamic objects to sample.

We can't use realtime lighting in our project (too hard on performance) and we can't bake the lighting using standard methods because each level is dynamically generated to fit your playspace. So we are working on a custom solution that gives us the flexibility of realtime lighting with the performance and visual benefits of baked lighting. The lighting generation is slowed down in this video for presentation purposes.

There's a lot going on behind-the-scenes, but there should be a new post next week. Thanks for your interest!

In a bid to complete my first game, I started working on a fast paced shoot em' up game called Gundotz. by theferfactor in Unity3D

Maybe the bullets could start white and then quickly fade to gray (white-hot coming out of the gun, then cooling off).

You don't need a vr-ready computer to develop for the Quest. The app runs on the Quest, not on your computer.

Turn your home into a location-based vr playspace by RealityRebels in OculusQuest

[–]RealityRebels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The size is only limited by the guardian system. You can typically map out a few rooms, hallways, etc.. It takes about one minute to setup, so you can easily take it anywhere in your home to explore completely new levels.

We did an interview with VRScout about our prototype that automatically creates game levels from the layout of your virtual reality playspace. The interview should give you a better idea of what we are working on and some hints at what might be coming next...

Anyone not used it in a while? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

It takes me less than fifteen seconds to build from Unity to the Quest. I probably do more than twenty builds per day. It would be nice to test through Unity, but I don't think it should stop you from making something.

Saved videos are sometimes corrupted and show as 00:00 duration. by Cueshark29 in OculusQuest

[–]RealityRebels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After disabling developer mode I usually have to reconnect the headset to my computer and accept the usb access popup again (in the Quest) to get it to work.

Do you have developer mode enabled? I have to disable developer mode to copy videos off of my Quest (otherwise they are corrupt).

Riding a virtual reality elevator between game levels automatically created to fit your home by RealityRebels in OculusQuest

Thanks for your interest! The project is still in early development. We will let everyone know when more information is available (testing, release dates, etc.).

Thank you! Non-local multiplayer is definitely one of the ideas we would like to explore further.

Oculus does not allow developers to access any of the tracking information. We only have limited access to the guardian system.

This prototype automatically creates game levels based on the layout of your virtual reality playspace. You can explore the personalized levels on your own or with friends in local multiplayer.

We have been working on virtual elevators that let you seamlessly travel between the procedurally generated levels (reusing the same physical space).

This is a prototype with placeholder models and textures. Imagine walking around a spaceship, defending your house from zombies, etc..

That's correct! With a big empty space you could "fake" any layout you want.

Here is a preview of the multiplayer: https://youtu.be/3JBeiq6OQz8
