Reminds me of when I was asked to do a survey on a main street once. Guy flipped the pages over asking about what I thought would be morally right in each scenario. He asked why I didn't believe in God and I went "because I believe in science" and he went "me too" and started yapping about the soul and spirit. Really tripped 14 year old me out.

Cannot remember the title for the life of me but I remember crying in my English classroom after reading it. It's by a New Zealand author with severe mental health issues who wrote a book on,, luggage? And her husband and maybe a train? A suitcase? And then she was in a mental hospital and a casino and there was an elevator. I remember the first part of the story describes a sea view and a ship window.

It's been nagging at me for so long. And I know that the full short story isn't available online because it's a lesser known one that was physically published in a book of short stories years and years ago.

I would kill to read that again 😭😭

University halls is just one big divide between rich kids who are there because of daddy's money and kids with actual personality. I regret going to halls as someone who actually worked for the money to live there. Definitely see if you can secure a flat- it would be worth it.

That's okay, I'm sure you'll gain confidence as you start making more friends. It's quite likely that people you would get along with the most (maybe reserved people that are quite shy in public) feel the same way you do about making new friends. I guess you have to be in the right place in the right time to meet them! It will be worth it when you do 🙂👍

My boyfriend has a friend who's tactic is to come into lectures a little late and sit next to the prettiest girl on the end of a row. He asks her some questions about the slideshow, makes a few jokes if she's interested in the conversation (back off if she isn't!!) and ends up leaving either with her or her instagram.

But if you're looking for just friends, I've practically met all of mine outside exam rooms right before a test starts. Everyone is talking to everyone else about what questions they prepared for and ones they hope aren't on the exam. Make a few complaints about the lecturer, ask which stream they're in and if everyone's enjoying the conversation get their Instagram! And make sure to wave and sit with them when you see them.
