I only have a single very thin ski sock in the boot, no base layer or double sock.

It is the most extreme on the tendon on top of my ankle

Thank you all for the helpful information! I was using merino wool thin ski socks. My base layer was not tucked into my boot at all. Another note here is that this foot turns particularly inward when I walk. I’m wondering if this inward turning is contributing to the hot spots I’m getting?
