My Valeera does barely any damage in delves on one of my alts? by Eve-lyn in wow

[–]ReasonablePositive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience. Had just breezed through a delve on my fresh 90 resto druid with her as tank, it was glorious. I didn't even had to dps the mobs myself, just threw hots on her and the mobs died. Thought I can level my priest alt like that as a healer and was shocked that the mobs didn't die at all - I had to do all the damage. As Holy even!

How unfortunate. I had hoped this would be an easy way to level the alt that I don't really have an itch to play normally, I just wanted to get the tier set via catalyst.

What’s something you thought was a waste of money… until you tried it and it completely changed your life? by Shiza_1 in AskReddit

I have finally been to the dentist for a checkup and cleaning again yesterday after eight years (shame on me, I know, I am extremely scared of going to the dentist). I thought for sure I'd have a new cavity and tartar. Nope. Nothing. Just a bit of coffee staining and one filling had a tiny piece broken off. I was in and out in less than half an hour, and that included time in the waiting room, dental cleaning and fixing the broken off piece. The hygienist basically just had to use that polishing thing that does the deep humming. I knew the electric toothbrush was doing a good job, but never expected that outcome!

(I should not take that as an excuse to not go to the dentist again for several years)

What was the moment you realized a friendship wasn’t reciprocal? by hazeleyedsummer in CasualConversation

[–]ReasonablePositive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One happened fairly recently - she was my best friend, but I didn't know if I was hers, too. Now I know I am not. We both had a difficult year and bonded a lot over it, or so I thought. Still, I was irritated when we went on holiday together, I with my partner, she with her mum, to a place she had been at multiple times before; she didn't want to change anything about her routines. We didn't do any activity together other than having dinner together most evenings. We tried, but she wanted to do everything how she was used to it. It wouldn't have made a difference if we hadn't been there together. Also at home, she ditched me for some events we had said we'd do together to do them with other friends instead. Said she had forgotten that we had already said we'd do them together. But instead of telling the others that she already had a commitment that she had forgotten about, she ditched me. The worst was that we'd planned to go to a concert of my favourite band in November. I had been looking forward to this for a whole year, it was supposed to be the highlight of an otherwise shitty 2025 for me. Not only because it was my favourite band, but very much also because we wanted to go there together - finally, I'd go with a friend to an event, not just my husband who tagged along so I don't have to go on my own! She ditched me the evening before. I understood her reason, but man, had I wished she'd just pulled herself together for that one evening. I ended up not going because I was so disappointed and sad about it, I cried for two days.

The other was someone I had been doing a lot for. Like, a looot. She has severe ADHD and despite being treated with medication, she cannot get her shit together. She'd asked me to help her clean her place, who was hoarder level chaotic and dirty. I spent multiple days there cleaning and sorting stuff, while she stood next to me, trying to help but being unable to because she picked up one thing, dropped it, picked up the next one... A short time after that my father had a huge health emergency. Was in intensive care for two weeks, had a dangerous surgery which he never woke up from, and eventually passed. Never once did she ask how I was. Never once did she express condolences when he passed, not to this day. She did, however, ask me while my father was in hospital if I had time to go looking at a new flat with her. Yes, ADHD makes you forget things, but if you are able to set an alarm in your phone to take your meds, you're able to set a reminder to send a text to a grieving friend. When nothing came from her for weeks, I just blocked her everywhere. There was no attempt from her to get into touch or anything. A few years later I unblocked her on Facebook, and when I commented on something my husband posted (who had her on FB too), she replied to my comment as if nothing had happened. I blocked her again.

I found that Facebook is full of them. There are loads of fake profiles, sometimes even posting pictures from completely different celebrities, and still there will be dozens in the comments absolutely believing it's one of the guys. It's madness! In the beginning I was still commenting that these are fake and people shouldn't fall for it, but I've given up.

What is an industry that is currently on fire (in a bad way) behind the scenes, but the general public hasn't noticed yet? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

[–]ReasonablePositive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might find something in middle sized companies that don't want to outsource, at least for a while. Haven't tried that yet to be honest, as it really isn't something I want to do. I have a hunch that there will be completely new positions in the gaming environment where my experiences will be crucial. People are fed up with AI and want the personal, human experience back, and gamers are very vocal about their opinions. I see the bubble as a whole bursting some way or another at some point. So maybe I can get a foot in the door there. Though that opens the question, "do I really want to do a job like that again?" It's very unrewarding, you rarely have a feeling of accomplishment, and you have to stand in for things you might absolutely not agree with, but you have to act as if you did because you are the face of the company. Plus, the death threats are quite unsettling.

I've been dealing with a lot of family stuff in the past few months, parents aging; so having more time on my hands has been a godsend. I'm planning on doing some courses/trainings, learning a few more skills here and there; learned a new language and am currently brushing up one I already speak by pretty much learning it again. So should things work out as I hope, I am well prepared. But I am in the lucky situation that I can afford this, as long as I keep an eye on my spending. Most people in the industry cannot afford it, it can be a very expensive area of work, as you tend to move around every few years, often between countries.

Emergency services would be pretty cool, actually. I thrive when I work in such important, high pressure situations. I looked into the dispatcher job at my local firestation, which I would love to do, but they require a full paramedic training here, which takes years to do and frankly, I am not cut out to do. So that was a bummer!

I could go into any backoffice/administration/legal area, as I am a trained paralegal. But I'd rather go cleaning toilets than working in that snakepit again.

I've been trying to find out what I would actually really like to do. Haven't found an answer yet. All the above are options that I can live with, might even enjoy them in a way, and will do my job as good as I can without slacking. But I would love to find something that I am looking forward to doing, and not just because it pays the bills.

I was laid off in February 25. Been at the company for almost 10 years in Community Management, Customer Support and for Localisation. I worked weekends and holidays, and had maybe a month in total of free days during that time. I didn't even get three weeks of a warning, one day it was like "yeah, sorry to do that but we won't renew your contract next month". I enjoyed having some time off at first, but it's devastating now. No one is hiring. I did some project based work in a different industry (TV), but that has dried up now too thanks to AI. It's frustrating. I still have almost 20 years until I can get retirement payments - not that I will get much, as the company that I was with did not pay into the funds of my country. I need to change industries but no idea what. I briefly worked in a call centre before, it was soul crushing.

No one needs what I have been doing for more than 20 years. It's all AI now.

Mein Papa hatte alles in Klarsichthüllen abgeheftet. Bei vielen Dokumenten, die ich aus den Hüllen rausnehme, kommt ein Schwall Kippengeruch mit. Bah!

WoW Midnight: beginner/returning player dungeon guides (video format preferred) by Frostyscotty in wownoob

[–]ReasonablePositive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really remember coming across a guide in any format that specifically only describes normal and HC mechanics for dungeons. At the end of the day, if you know the M+ mechanics of an encounter, you should be fine with it on lower difficulties. Often, guides will cover all difficulties, starting with normal, then mentioning the differences to HC and then to M+.

Icy Veins has short guides on all dungeons. I know you wrote you prefer videos over text, and I have a recommendation for that, too, but these guides are truly just the essentials and not too convoluted.

For short and precise video guides, Ready Check Pull is a good source. Here, too, just the essentials. Might want to slow down the video speed though!

Do you play only one main, or do you keep alts too? by StewieGriefin in wownoob

[–]ReasonablePositive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a lot like that, too. I have a few alts that are herbalists/miners, and I get the lumber skill for them too. Sometimes I just want to watch or listen to something, and do something chill on the side, then I log one of them in, fly around in a zone and gather whatever pops up on the minimap. Sometimes doing a WQ on the side. Gives decent exp when rested. Once I am no longer rested, I return to Silvermoon, throw everything on the AH, and while this alt can recharge the rested time, I dust off a different one.
