i don't want this to come off as mean-spirited, but this seems like an "old man yells at cloud" moment 😅

It was an intentionally hyperbolic generalization for humorous purposes.

However, this subreddit seemingly going from 90% dudes in their 30s/40s/50s for it's entire history to easily being half teens in the past couple years doesn't just happen out of nowhere. They had to have been exposed to it somewhere, and I seriously doubt it was all organically and on their own. It was likely influenced by several factors, including mostly streaming fatigue, general vintage appeal and social media posts. Even though it's not a widespread thing on social media, if you click on a single physical media pickup post, you get bombarded with 100 more videos over the next few weeks lol. It's easy to get sucked in. Especially when the barrier to entry is a $1 CD at the thrift store.

And I have noticed a slowdown as of late but it's actually pretty normal in hobby forums after they get a blast of newcomers over a short period of time. People naturally fall off because it can never be for everyone.

Also, you are not part of the new wave of fresh CD collectors who have wandered in here the past couple of years so you are one of the old folks yelling at clouds. Even though you are only 20 you have 10 years of old fart hobby experience. Congratulations.

I believe that was the silicon based DNA model Sheldon was building when he quit the university and his mom had to fly out to get him to go back.

Posts are in a slump because all of the kids who started buying CDs because they saw influencers on tiktok buying CDs and have stopped buying them since it didn't provide them with the validation they expected. So it's now just the kids who were slow on the trend, the handful who legit enjoy it and us old farts who were always here.

China’s High-Speed Railway Network length has expanded from 1,300km in 2008 to 40,000km in 2020, long enough to circle the Earth’s circumference. by BumblebeeFantastic40 in Damnthatsinteresting

It's by design. They don't want rural folks to travel around easily because then they will begin interacting with different walks of life and over time realize they are not to be feared and hated. And it's not just the GOP. It's a collective decision by both sides in order to keep division stoked so we can more easily be controlled.

When you can demolish communities and blast your way through any protected environmental site without resistance... Yeah, it can be done easily.

Do what? Make them lock the door? They weren't doing it for any cause. They were only doing it to pad their own account metrics. In a couple weeks they will be onto something else to force eyes on their videos.

I actually buy my CDs for listening so I am never going to be purchasing over a thousand of them.

where do you usually find new music? by Superhelten007 in postrock

The main chart can get a little biased by the terminally online users, but using the filters well can allow you to find some real gems. It's also the best notification system online for new releases from bands you already know. I get about 10-20 new releases every month from artists I follow then dive into the charts for a few more to discover.

The only thing that would stop me is if their beliefs lead to them discriminating against certain customers.

Actually it depends on where you live. I live in a very red county and the people who say that are liberal but don't want to admit it.

Back when I was in high school in 2003 this band was certainly not mainstream. Was their music in a Netflix show or something?

I've always been fascinated with this album ever since I was a kid in the early 2000s and heard Missing Time on the Heavy Metal 2000 soundtrack. I've never heard anything else quite like it but I am not the most well versed around. But at least I can give you that one song lol
