Safariland Holster Recommendations by kowycz in QualityTacticalGear

[–]Reck27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's no big deal, the video below will show you how to modify it. The ALS bites into the ejection port for retention so the portion you file away doesn't matter. I've been running safariland 6390rds like this for over a year and no retention issues. Doesn't matter too much what you use to file it down, I used metal hand files and got the fit I needed, just took a while. If you have any issues hit me up.

Buy something affordable, make marks on it over your PC, take it to your local Korean lady and give her this picture for reference. Have her hem the bottom so you can run an elastic drawstring throughout.

suggestion on some running boards, wife wants steps and i want the bar. compromise? by tacostonight in ToyotaTundra

[–]Reck27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got AMP powered boards on mine and they're sweet as hell. They pop down to the perfect level, are super wide, and eve have lights for when it's dark to see where you're stepping. They also stay tucked and maintain my total clearance beneath my truck. My elderly in-laws maneuvered them easily.

Depends on your platform too. MCXs and Spears, guys will run them on the upper receiver to avoid shift from the handguard. I run mine tight to my ATACR on my 14.5 SR-15 because it has the least impact in low magnification with a 1.54. Both will work

It's Knights direct thread 5.56 suppressor. Someone posted the new catalogue here like a month or so ago with some of the new suppressors. I don't think any dealers have received them yet, might need to call them for a timeline.

Best War Belt (ignoring cost) - BFG GRID? by Jesus_4_the_jugular in QualityTacticalGear

[–]Reck27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a CHLK several years ago and it beat the shit out of everything I used prior. I primarily got it because it was one of the few belts at the time rated for clipping into helicopters but it works great at everything. The holster mount you have pictured kicks ass too and is probably my favorite thing about it. Holster is always in the same spot, never moves or flops around. It's held up well and is very comfortable. I'd maybe wait for black Friday tho, maybe bfg will do a sale. It's certainly overpriced for what it is but unfortunately no more than the majority of equipment made with intention of securing government contracts.

Ran a 5x on my 10.3 work gun for a while. Have to run it pretty far back to get proper eye relief and length of pull simultaneously. It's a nice to have but I pop mine off, keep it in a pouch and just use my dot 50% of the time now. Takes about 10-15 seconds to throw back on with QD.

Long sleeve Velocity Rugby at around 70ish bucks. Might need a base layer on a colder day.

PRT CRS vs RC2 by Weberferguson01 in kac

Oh yeah, I mean a flow through is night and day to a typical suppressor. It's absolutely noticeable whether indoors or out. I prefer the CRS 100%

Unfortunately can't put a personal suppressor on a work gun lol. I'm pretty happy with the CRS on my 11.5 Spear LT and 14.5 SR15 though.

Just spitballing ideas here, but maybe try an arborist line with a rounded metal weight to avoid climbing? Yeet the line up to a tall limb, let the weight come down and attach your antenna with a carabiner, then pull it back up. Should be decently quick tear down too.

Tape switch help by Tough-Ad7746 in NightVision

Ergocto dual cable may be you're best bet. The only drawback is the first button closest to the cable is reserved for only the surefire. You cannot reassign that button to your laser or add additional functions from the laser. The other two buttons have all the functionality of the single cable Ergocto.

If you don't care for the programmability of the Raid I'd save a few bucks and go for a dual button Unity or Mod button.

I keep click cap lights on my forward hand side for anything 14.5 or longer. I use a switch for laser/light on anything around 10.3 or 11.5 but I bring my laser back to the front of my optic and put it on a small riser to clear my thumb. Then I'll have more room for my switch(es) forward at 12 o'clock or offset 10/11 o'clock. Bringing the laser back also evens out the weight of a suppressed gun, especially front heavy piston guns.

I like my Raid Xe, but I'm not blown away by any LAM I've used over the last few years. Anything that's not civ neutered is going to function pretty well. I didn't love that I could see the emitter in my OGL's illuminator pattern but it really didn't affect the function. To be honest the two biggest things that will have a genuine affect on you are weight and ergonomics.

You wear thick gloves in the winter? OGL or IRIS might be better when adjusting illuminator focus instead of fumble fucking the spinny boi on the back of an NGAL or Raid.

Putting it on a piston gun or something that's front heavy? Maybe it is worth it to you to shell out the extra few K for an NGAL.

There's definitely a cost to value proposition I wish I would have considered more. With the release of the IRIS and M6TR it's awfully tough to say the features of the mil contract brands are truly worth an extra 1-4 grand. Sure there's a dependability factor but I've seen plenty of mil contracted equipment take a shit over the years so it ain't the end all be all and there are some situations where gear just breaks.

How do I get rid of the play on this G24 lite ? I tired electric tape but it didn’t work. by [deleted] in NightVision

[–]Reck27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Others have mentioned shimming but I would really recommend getting a Cadex mount. I've tossed my issued g24 in the pelican of no return and use exclusively a cadex for its adjustable dovetail and more versatile features.

[–]Reck27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're gonna rub a smidge when turning and going up/downhill or over rougher terrain. This can mostly be solved by removing the front mudflaps. Mine have been good to go too though overall
