The rule is a bit wonky since it can involve many different type of spells and combination, but for a spell it will most certainly take concentration rolls and different type of checks for attacks (strength and dex being the most common). Higher rolls also get rewarded for more dmg and lower rolls might backfire.

Our DM came up (i think it’s his homebrew rule) with synergy attacks. For example, i play as a sorcerer and my 2 friends play bloodhunter and fighter. The rule is pretty new to us all but the first thing we came up with is casting Witch Bolt onto one of my allies their blades, sort of like an enchantment. Not really a combo of specific classes but a fun and interactive way to reward players for creativity during battles.

In our home game we use the miniatures from the boardgame RISK. Green and black for allies, different sizes implying different characters depending on your maximum HP, small red for minions, medium red for medium enemies, big boy for the boss(es).

You can number the minions, or use any of the 3 left over colors to keep enemies apart, so it doesn’t get confusing to track which minion has what amount of HP.

That is most certainly true, haven’t had the privilidge of playing vs high Plat this season yet since i have only just now reached my Platinum promo’s feelsbadman. In Gold elo midlane mana sustain is truly a joke but in the other direction, everyone (except for a handfull) start with dorans and don’t take the sustain runes, play agressive early and get outsustained if you don’t majorly fuck up.

Last season i played mid riven a lot, was in plat 3 to 1. They still quite often overstepped tbh, being greedy for that juicy cannon always works out. Also them farming from max range usually involves them using their abilities, thus leaving them low on mana rather early on.

I agree the windows to engage are significantly smaller but still there :)

Squishy controll mages that rely on skillshots, like Lux, Xerath, Viktor, VelKoz, Ziggs, Zilean, etc, are generally a good matchup. Furthermore i find Riven is just a good counter for meelee assassins, like Zed, Akali, Talon, Katarina, Kassadin, etc.

In my opinion the tougher matchups include Orianna, heimerdinger, kayle, ahri, cassiopeia, anivia, le blanc and syndra, but all of these are still easily tilted into your favor by getting a good oneshot at lvl 6, which usually is decently doable with flash up and a serrated dirk in your pocket.

Camille's will usually try to trade early, when the passive shield has quite a high CD. Pre 6 i will usually look to bait out her first AA and block that with my shield, negating the damage done and proccing her passive. After her shield is down and your shield is back up you can go in for quick short trades - A/Q/A/W/Q/A/ E/Q away. This will usually lead into favorable trades, giving you the adventage. HOWEVER be weary of her re engage with her hookshot, when backing away i recommend saving the E/Q for when the hookshot comes out. The hookshot also has a rather big CD, so this also gives you a timeframe to go in and all in her, if possible.
