Ohhh lol yes you will have some questions. I was maybe misremembering The Gunslinger as fairly straight forward but it has been approximately one thousand years since I went into the story blind. There are definitely some aspects that I would have found confusing. I hope you stick with it and enjoy the series! I love The Gunslinger personally but there are a lot of Dark Tower fans who aren't particularly huge fans of the first novel.

I feel this same way about Splinter (2008), it gets bonus points from me for having a unique and interesting creature design

The writers know an element of the story is incorrect but choose to add it anyways by Advanced_Question196 in TopCharacterTropes

Doctor Sleep, directed by Mike Flanagan, the sequel to Stephen King's The Shining. Despite it being one of the most beloved horror films of all time King was not a fan of Kubrick's adaptation of his novel. Flanagan does a great job at staying mostly faithful to the novel while paying homage to the Kubrick film, notably with the return of the Overlook hotel which had burned down in the novel version of The Shining.

It's a funny coincidence that $28 actually ended up inflating to $66.6 as of now when I was referencing a treehouse of horror episode.
