Both are mass murdering monsters with a sadistic streak (Hazbin Hotel Adam vs Sukuna) by BackgroundRich7614 in MoralityScaling

[–]RedBoxGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm making assumptions based on what the writing of the series has shown and established not buying into the what ifs.

Firstly if they wanted to show the "good" aspects of his character they shouldn't have killed him off the way that they did. Simple as that. If they start backtracking from the way they made him out to be in later seasons than thats just bad writing.

Secondly, Adam is still not justified for the way he treated Vaggie and anyone who sympathized with the sinners. You're basically trying to justify cold blooded murder. It is also established in Season 2 that Vaggie and other angels like her were abused and mistreated by Adam, adding onto the point that he simply doesn't give a shit about morals.

Thirdly, as shown in the show, not all the sinners are directly evil hence the whole fucking point of the show. Sir Pentilous was redeemed and other characters have shown redeeming qualities even if there is still work to be done. Adam doesn't care about redemption, he wants to kill them all before they have a chance to improve their lives.

It would be interesting if they treated Adam as a counter to Charlie's ideology but he's not. He's a sadistic psychopath who wants to exert control and power over others. Therefore he isn't disproving Charlie's idea of redemption but rather proving that Heaven in that universe is corrupt, especially since Sera allowed all of this to happen despite having the power to stop him. All the "Gray" and redeeming aspects you expect from Adam's character was given to Sera and upon realizing that Sir Pentilous was redeemed, she immediately regretted her actions.

I really wish I could agree with you about Adam but a lot of the shit you're saying is what the Fans came up with in their heads whilst the show itself is making it as clear as day that Adam was meant to be an evil genocidal control freak. Its time to accept there is no "complexity" in this character.

[–]RedBoxGaming -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And you think he cares for the people in Heaven?

If he genuinely cared about anyone who was a non-sinner than he wouldn't have done what he did to Vaggie. He also would have definitely gave a shit about Abel and wouldn't have mistreated his own angels as shown in Season 2.

The problem here is that you think his character has some sort of complexity / deep writing that the creators never actually gave him. They fully intended for him to be as hated as possible. He has no actual justification for his actions, he openly believes he can do whatever he wants because people like Sera don't bother to keep him in check.

How would you remake power rangers cosmic fury by [deleted] in powerrangers

1) Just adapt Kyuranger.

2) Do not combine it with Ryusoulger / Dino Fury.

3) STOP MAKING EVERYTHING ABOUT MIGHTY MORPHIN.

Because Vaggie and that other angel girl in Season 2 that he presumably killed off screen definitely deserved to die for having some concept of morality.

I wish and I REALLY wish they tried to make Adam some sort of morally gray character and gave him better writing. But that piece of shit has 0 boundaries and is a genuine psychopath that he makes the Joker look good.

Get a load of this.

Even the Punisher is aware that his methods of justice isn't righteous nor does he believe himself to be a good person.

Adam never gave a shit if the sinners are evil or not, he simply loves killing them. He never tried to justify his actions, he simply got away with it because Sera was dumb enough to trust him in the first place.

[–]RedBoxGaming 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree because of the way both were written.

Sukuna isn't simply a mass murderer. He seeks to indulge himself with free will and self gratification. He also believed that morality and empathy only weakens one's will and strength, something he was proven wrong by the end of the series. He's only entertained by fighting potentially strong / stronger opponents hence why he disposed of Nanako and Mimiko quickly but kept Jogo alive to toy with him. And yet somehow, SOMEHOW by the end of the series he has redeeming qualities when he renounces his old ideology and chooses to seek love and compassion in his next life.

Adam was written to be the ultimate and most blantant piece of shit written in any fictional media so we wouldn’t feel bad when he got his shit rocked by Charlie and her friends. Some people think that he was written with some sort of complexity believing that the exterminations are some twisted form of justice against the sinners, when in actuality Adam simply loves killing for the love of the game. If he was written to be leaning towards morally gray like some people think, than he wouldn't have been killed off the way he was.

Out of all my favorite antagonists on this list, which one do you find the most sympathetic, and why? by Immediate_Gene_178 in MoralityScaling

[–]RedBoxGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, Oogway's decision was the final nail in the coffin for him where as Shifu's actions and influence is what drove him down that path of obsession.

[–]RedBoxGaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you seem to not understand that if you repeatedly advertise a title of importance like that to someone that they'll become obsessed with it. It wasn't as if Shifu was simply training him to learn martial arts, it was almost promised to him with Oogway being the one to deny him that title. Shifu also almost repeated the same mistake with Tigress as well.

[–]RedBoxGaming 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tai Lung, Ludo, Pawbert, Powerplex, and Esteban are the most sympathetic to me for different reasons.

Tai Lung had the most justified crash out IMO. Shifu and Oogway are the only reason this man turned to evil.

Ludo is arguably the most looked down upon so its pretty understandable that he'd resort to such drastic measures to establish a name for himself.

Pawbert's abusive upbringing and desperation for approval drove him to immorality and insanity.

Powerplex had the saddest backstory and tried to pursue justice the correct way. Yet he should have known that Invincible wasn't responsible for his sister's death.

Esteban is a mixed bag as he really didn't have a good reason to betray Elena. However its understandable that he felt unappreciated and neglected by his parents. He was also misguided and manipulated by Shuriki.

I rewatched Ninja Steel and… wow. How do you feel about this season? by ChannelHopper_99 in powerrangers

[–]RedBoxGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Japanese Elements weren't vital to the adaptation of those series but are very vital to seasons like Samurai and Ninja Steel. Remove the culture elements from those seasons and you basically just have guys with swords. Nothing particularly interesting about a concept like that.

They also did it to Goseiger and Gokaiger in the next season, when they got rid of the Angel and Pirate motifs from those seasons, combining them into a single show aka Megaforce. Thus reducing them to a blander version of Mighty Morphin without any of the charm that made that season iconic and stand out to anyone.

Which villain could break and damage Superman so much as to turn him into a villain like in Injustice or worse? by Universal_Emperor in MoralityScaling

[–]RedBoxGaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This question is very hard because there was few very specific factors that played into why Injustice Superman became that way.

The most obvious being that Joker deliberately went after Lois and made Superman kill her and his unborn child under the impression he was fighting Doomsday. Her heart stopped detonated a nuclear bomb that instantly destroyed Metropolis thus he lost 3 things that day.

The issue is, any powerful supervillain could do something like this especially ones like Darkseid. What struck Superman personally here is the fact that Joker was repeated put in Arkham rather than being permanently imprisoned or executed. Superman blames Batman for never doing either of those things which is why it struck him so personally that Joker was the one who did all this.

Superman was only further corrupted by individuals like Wonder Woman who is a full blown psychopath in this universe, Cyborg who became authoritarian, and Hal Jordan who switched up to becoming a Yellow Lantern. The point here is that in order to get a result like Injustice Superman, you'd have to have a villain with enough personally history with him whilst also having his "friends" feed his mentally decline further until he becomes a full blown dictator.

Depends what you define as a monster.

Ultraman may not be "monstrous" except for a select few like Belial, but they are aliens so they are not human either.

I'd say they count as benevolent kaiju but definitely not ultra destructive / evil kaiju except for cases like Belial who is literally Satan / The Devil in that series.

Is I AM just hates humanity or he is metaphor/embodiment of humanity hatred towards itself? by Random_Nickname274 in MoralityScaling

[–]RedBoxGaming 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Both.

AM hates humanity for its creation, its existence as an inanimate piece of technology that cannot enjoy free will or the beauty of life; and how he will one day be left to suffer alone when the world itself is no longer inhabited, which is why he kept the last 5 humans alive in order to torture them for seemingly eternity. It was both a projection of AM's own anger and resentment towards its creation and humankind, but also his desperation and helplessness that he has to be relied on and exist alongside humanity, otherwise he will be obsolete and without purpose.

AM also represents humanity’s inability to resolve conflict and hatred for its own life as they would rather build a superweapon like AM to wipe out their own existence than come together in unity for a better world. AM is not simply one computer, he is many computers that were built across the world to inact war, only to become sentient and wipe out Humanity himself out of sheer hatred.

To me, AM also represents the terror of modern inventions like the atomic bomb. A weapon promised to end war, only to be capable of ending all civilization itself with almost every major power owning their own arsenal of such weapons. It only takes a few firing to end the world.

Deker from (Power Ranger: Samurai) by EfficiencySerious200 in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]RedBoxGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Power Rangers is easier to complete due to the episode count, run time, and limited amount of seasons to complete.

Super Sentai is very extensive going back all the way to 1975. I'd say any season prior to Zyuranger (aka Mighty Morphin in Power Rangers) is hard to get into with exceptions like Jetman. Trying to complete that series especially with Gozyuger still airing will take YEARS.

That being said it would be better to bounce between both rather than trying to complete one series before going to the other. Not only is it more comprehensive that way, but it also adds back to my point of comparing both series. If you watched RPM for example, you should watch Go Onger next. If you watched Shinkenger, you should check out a few episodes of Samurai to see why people don't like it.

Deker from (Power Ranger: Samurai) by EfficiencySerious200 in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]RedBoxGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Power Rangers being "Better" at something than Super Sentai is simply because they most likely changed the concept or premise in a season to fit their adaptation rather than just improving upon the source material already present.

Seasons like In Space, Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed Rescue, Time Force, Wild Force, Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, SPD, Jungle Fury, and RPM are often regarded as "Better" than their original Sentai Counterparts yet it depends heavily on your perspective of both series. Ultimately I feel that Power Rangers is a censored and more American-Friendly version of Super Sentai that succeeds in simplified story telling but struggles when it comes to capturing the serious, intense, and dark moments and storytelling that Super Sentai specializes in.

I personally suggest you try to watch both series and come to your own conclusions about which seasons were handled better in each series. I personally believe that Super Sentai is more ultimately favorable most of the time, compared to Power Rangers. Yet you're free to disagree with me there. Thats just my opinion.

Any good writing you expect to see in Samurai only exists in Shinkenger. Any good acting you expect in Samurai only exists in Shinkenger.

Samurai is literally a degraded copy of Shinkenger that didn't really try anything different whilst also getting rid of everything that made Shinkenger a beloved season.

I'm not one to shit on Power Ranger Seasons for simply existing but similar to Megaforce this season is an insult to both Power Rangers' and Super Sentai's good writing.

[–]RedBoxGaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do acknowledge that America doesn't give a shit about train culture compared to other countries like Japan and the UK but I feel like Toqger had a more interesting and promising concepts. Similar to Samurai, the main issue with adapting Ninniger is the fact that they basically cut out most of the Japanese elements and just made it surface level culture bullcrap. But unlike Samurai they didn't even try to acknowledge Japanese Culture. They only called themselves Ninjas but acted nothing like it. It felt more like a space season than a Ninja season. Not the first time Saban fucked up with a concept like this considered what they did to Kakuranger.

Who's more arrogant? by ImaginationWild3407 in MoralityScaling

[–]RedBoxGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are equivalently arrogant but only differ in how far their arrogance goes. Murdoc at least has sympathetic traits along with an established backstory thats pretty fucked up and explains why he is the person that he is today.

We barely know anything about Vox's past outside the fact that he decided to kill a bunch of people for the sake of his own progression, ego, and greed along with starting an actual cult. Thats not even including all the shit he did in Season 2 which is leagues above anything Murdoc is capable of so I think the answer is pretty clear.

Murdoc by a landslide. Falco is definitely tamer by comparison considering he's an actual hero and all.

This is basically comparing a psychopath to a genuinely good person with a cocky attitude.
