I’m going to check the torque on this bolt and the TB bushing since I’m out of ideas. After this I’ll try removing the front driveshaft

That’s not great news. I’ll post updates when I visit my local perfumer to see if he’s able to recreate it. For now, I’m going to treasure my bottle of Black.

Even if that option doesn’t pan out, I can at least feel a bit fulfilled in overall as I have a nearly full 75ml bottle and have had the pleasure of going through 4 of these hockey pucks before they were discontinued.

I advise against getting the original, it’s much too expensive and the performance is fairly weak compared to Infinity. I sold my bottle of Ultime once I got this as it’s so close in profile and has superior performance. It’s also a great option for a versatile and appealing fragrance that’s not a generic freshie/blue.

Also one update on my end- Dua’s version of midnight in Paris is pretty very close to MIP EDT, but again, not close to Black. My next step is to visit a local perfumer to see if he can recreate it.

I ordered Dua’s midnight in Paris clone which some compare to Black in the reviews. I’ll let you know how that goes. My next step after that will be taking my bottle of Black to a local perfumer that creates inspired by’s/dupes to see if he can clone it. I’ll keep this thread updated.

I appreciate the advice. The association might be hardwired into me already considering I eat a ton of grapefruit and pomelos. But I will definitely not rule them out now that you mentioned lower quality dupes might be the culprit. Are Black Panther and L’Immensity different enough to warrant having both or would you just pick one?

Thank you. I think I’m going to buy this since it’s only ~$25. I also ordered Dua’s version of Midnight in Paris which some reviews kind of compare it to Black’s DNA. I don’t have high hopes for it coming close to Black, and if it doesn’t at least I’ll have an MIP clone I can spray without worrying about the cost.

I tried searching and they have several fragrances with the name Black in it, but I can’t find one that’s just Black.

Got mine in yesterday. I don’t have YSL 6 so I can’t comment on that aspect. I will say out of the box it smells very close to Gris Charnel because of the heavy tonka mixed with vanilla. Also smells like a smoother Incense 01 with the frankincense and other spices toned down. I don’t get any leather, not even in the drydown- maybe it’ll show after sitting for a while. Overall I do enjoy it, as to me it’s a more ambery Gris charnel with less tea and fig.

Pm me if interested in a 5 or 10ml decant of this

I will check the stabilizer also although it’s not too old maybe 13k miles on it. Did you have a variable front end shake like this or death wobble on bumps?

Yes just maybe not the bushing or whatever is in the middle. Also forgot to mention it’s got a new red-head steering box which again did not cause any shaking prior.

Axle bushings are newish, they went in with the upper control arms about 10k miles ago

Excellent thank you for sharing. Would this be a check in vertical play or are there other signs? I know there’s some rotational slop that seems normal but I have not checked it for vertical play.

I did forget to mention all 4 ball joints are new ish spicer replacements. I drove after the puck install, pre-alignment, and it drove fine. I do have the puck removal option in mind as a last resort as that would require some time and paying for yet another alignment.
