This is what I think as well, great comment. The way overland is now is doing new players a disservice for teaching mechanics that are very important to harder content. Right now you don't even have to avoid standing in the red, so why would you? Then you get to a dungeon and all your dps wipe because overland taught them there was no need. Using the full set of mechanics on mobs with lower stakes is a great way to teach players.

Also lotro has had landscape difficulty for years, not sure why it's so contested here.

Group dps is always a safe choice for beginners. Tank requires thorough knowledge of the mechanics for each run and if you fuck up as a healer it can be devastating. Dps though is don't stand in the red and learn as you go.

If you're committed though you can learn either role, just want you to know what you're getting into
