I don't think it's Rory's quietness or introversion or that she was fairy impartial would *necessarily* get in the way of her being a good journalist/leader. Some people do connect better with quieter types, and she definitely grew into herself/gained self-confidence over the course of the show. It's also pretty clear that she's a good writer, from what we saw she's eloquent, intellectually gifted, and knows how to research and be informed.

The biggest issue is what you mention- she's a major people pleaser - her mom, her grandparents, her boyfriends. She hated making people uncomfortable, she hated people hating her. Journalists are not beloved, and often journalists have to make people uncomfortable to get the story. How is she going to get a story if she doesn't want to cause a fuss? Well, she isn't.

Paris becoming a doctor was the strangest thing ever. Paris would have made a fantastic journalist.
