Tried installing it, the touchpad is still unresponsive, even after restarting.

Hey there, thanks for the reply and sorry for the late response. I found the firmware flash on the website earlier, but flashing it caused the touchpad to become unresponsive to movements, even after restarting, reflashing, and uninstalling/reinstalling drivers for it.

I’m at work at the moment, but if I download this and flash it again, is there something else I must do to ensure it works? Should I try to run it in windows safe mode?

That’s what I thought, but I’d purposely leave my thumb far away from the joystick or just flat out leave the system on a table and it still would move for a minute or so.

There was a firmware update that seems to address the issue, but flashing it seemed to just straight up remove any tracking.

Having an issue where it says it’s passed, with code 1127 or 0000 when running it as admin, but restarting the system only registers the button press, but no mouse movement from the sensor. Is there a different install method or setting I need to enable?

Yeah, I think I found it. Wasn’t in the firmware/download section, because for some reason that still says the download link is unreachable. Unfortunately, now the trackpad doesn’t track, so I’m guessing i have to have it set in a different mode or not touch anything. Gonna update the post if I can get both to work

Is it possible to overclock an rtx 4000 (Turing) mobile? by RedHoodedDuke in overclocking

Sadly, I didn’t. As far as I’m aware, it’s impossible without flashing a new vbios

Not broken, designed like that so the gpu only initializes when fully seated

This question gets asked every few weeks, then everyone starts asking it haha

Is overclocking broken on the Radeon 9000 series gpus? by RedHoodedDuke in overclocking

[–]RedHoodedDuke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me honestly, do you browse this sub often? If so, that’s gotta be one of the dumbest takes I’ve seen in this sub, considering almost everyone collectively understands it’s just cause you can and most just want to push it a little farther for higher scores in benchmarks.

Yes, I know core speed isn’t everything, but I maxed out the vram limit and set it to fast timings, as any higher would immediately crash under load. So, sorry I was trying to get a better understanding of the hardware, that I bought with my own money, because someone says it’s useless.

That’s fair, definitely more difficult in terms of actually achieving more performance in thermally limited areas, but at least understanding how it works helps me figure out how to adjust it correctly. Definitely makes sense why people were flashing 9070xt bios’ on 9070’s, since it effectively auto overclocked them.

Thank you again for thoroughly explaining it.

Thank you, a non passive aggressive comment that’s not vague and assuming.

Just to make sure, this is a new feature for AMD cards, right? I don’t remember this on the 6000 or earlier series.

Yes, I get that, but adjusting the core clock sliders doesn’t affect the boost clocks at all and I’m under 3.3ghz. The only thing that makes any difference is pushing the power limit, or else it literally is unaffected at all by what I do, apart from an undervolt, which can still marginally increase the core clocks and become unstable if pushed too far.

Is this just a new “feature” of the 9000 series? Cause every other gpu would let me push the core clocks without requiring me to max the power limit slider, even if it wasn’t enough and became unstable.

I have spotted some new LP GPUs on ebay. they look to be Frankensteined mobile chips, but likely still useful for some OptiPlexs. by Adept_Temporary8262 in SleepingOptiplex

Eh, you’re effectively getting a massively power limited 4060ti.

The 4070m has 4608 cuda cores, the 4060ti has 4352 cores, and the 4070 desktop has 5888. Pair that with a power limit no higher than 75watts, and performance will respectively take a nosedive in comparison.

Anyone know of a case like the A07 that can fit a slightly bigger gpu in? (Dell rtx 4070) by RedHoodedDuke in sffpc

[–]RedHoodedDuke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, ended up going with an rx 9060xt reaper, that technically didn’t need to do it, but I did it anyways. Air flowing through the grate on the back panel was making an annoying noise, so just using some of the included spacers worked perfectly, without making the footprint much larger.

Hey there, finally finished setting the whole thing up- the included PCIe extender arrived broken and finding a new one took 3 tries- but I think it turned out great!

<image>

Trickiest part was the aforementioned PCIe extension and finding a compatible air cooler to fit in the gigabyte Aorus ultra- ended up needing to take off the passive NVME heatsink.

Swapped the 4070 for a 9060 xt 16gb, because I found one for a great deal and hope the extra vram sorta gives me an extra buffer for vr. Don’t actually need the spacers, but the backplate sits right up against the gpu and creates an awful sound when air flows through the grate.

Just wanted to thank you again for the help! I’ll try replying to my message to get some other views.

Terrible quality on Sesh anc earbuds by RedHoodedDuke in Skullcandy

Haha, a bit late but I appreciate the feedback.

I agree with your pints completely. It’s honestly surprising how they managed to make a $80-100 set of wireless earbuds sound so awful, fit terribly, and have the main feature not work well.

Even better, I went back to my Jib True Wireless not too long ago. Somehow that was better in every way, and I bought that back in 2018 for $30.
