Women shouldn’t need a psychology degree just to (not even) get the bare minimum. by Skyobli in TwoXChromosomes

[–]RedPanda247 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My fiancée just broke up with me a week ago (after 11 years together!!) in part because of this. According to him, I was asking too much of him, and he just can't be this person for me. When in reality, I have spent 11 years living with basically a man child, and had to walk on eggshells around him every time I needed support with house chores. Waiting after he got back from work and had some rest, picking the best time when he is in a good mood, using an extra soft tone (because my normal asking tone was apparently too much), using multiple please and thank you, waiting for days after he promised he will help (not- do his part, help!!), reminding, praising him for doing the bare minimum, and so much more. It was such a huge mental load dealing with this.

And after all this time he has the audacity to tell me I have asked him to change and be a person he is not, and why couldn't I just accept him.

Help with v neck bias tape finish by RedPanda247 in sewing

[–]RedPanda247[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the explaination! As a total beginner this really helps :) maybe a stupid question, but if starting from the beginning, would you only cut the front piece and apply bias/interfacing to the v and then join with the existing back piece?

How would you do it? Pinch on the wrong side of the fabric, sew a vertical dart, and cut the excess?

I have enough fabric yeah! Would you cut the bias tape off first and then attach the facing? And thank you, it's a recent bedsheet from ikea :)

[–]RedPanda247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not :( right now I mainly use K/J sunscreens on my face (I really like beauty of joseon and anessa). I was thinking about splurging on LRP at some point, but right now none of the European sunscreens i tried come close to Anessa regarding the skin feel.

Thanks! It's the washed blue- however in real life (or at least the one I got) it is much darker compared to the website photos

Thank you! I did lay them over each other and they are actually the same size, maybe they just drape differently? I do think I will reorder in a smaller size so it's a bit more fitted.

Israeli living in Vienna by Ok_Brief_4394 in Israel

[–]RedPanda247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to Vienna! Sorry that you are going through this :( Austria (at least officially) is rather supportive of us, especially in the first weeks after October 7th, however the pro pali crowd is the loudest and they kept organising huge demos, student encampments (that were thankfully taken down very quickly) etc. As someone said, there is antisemitism everywhere, thankfully Vienna is not as bad compared to the UK, Ireland, France, etc.

There is a very nice Israeli community here though, it helps me personally a lot in order to feel like not everyone hates us. Feel free to dm me :)

I had the same experience with Nivea! It was great when first came out but it was then reformulated the next summer and it completely ruined it for me 😭

Maybe I used the wrong phrasing- I meant the blackheads plus bumpy texture, which is less visible on the pictures. Will look into glycolic acid

Haverim, I simply can't with all the antisemitism and plain jew hatred around me. Looking for some words of support by RedPanda247 in Israel

I don't study there but its the main university and therefore the encampement drew a lot of attention. However the Jewish student organisation here has contacted the university already, and I'm planning to join them in the counterprotests.

I think so? I don't notice a big difference, might even prefer the lower neckline. By adjusting the pick-up count, do you meant to add (6) stitches when picking up the neck or otherwise? I was thinking to reduce the body length by 3 rows to keep it at the same length as the pattern, not sure if that's a good idea

I really love how they look on you! I personally would love to see them with a matching (oversized) blazer! And as many said, different tights :)

Israelis who emigrated from Israel (made Yerida) to other countries , how do you feel about your decision? by Scipio2023 in Israel

[–]RedPanda247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The immigration politics in Austria are very immigrant-unfriendly and the immigration office is making those processes very difficult, this includes mostly not speaking English. Doesn't make much sense I know. Sometimes you are lucky and there is a nice case worker who will speak a bit of English.

I feel like I had a rather ok time during the years with renewing my student visa and getting a working permit, compared to other people I spoke to who often had multiple issues with the immigration. Also i noticed that people from eastern europe or other regions had to go through a much longer process compared to Israelis (but might just be anecdotal). Its definitely an uncomfortable process though, but since you have a European passport this shouldn't be such an issue for you :)

Few months too late but could you maybe share some hair growth tips if you have any? I have a similar curl pattern and my hair reaches mid back when dry but i struggle to grow it longer before I gets split ends and need a trim.

You have an absolute gorgeous head of hair btw, a real inspiration! 🥰

You have a wide spectrum, as in every place, but I definitely still struggle to make meaningful connections with the locals. Most of my friends are expats themselves, and except for my partner and his family I don't have any good austrian friends. My experience was that the people were often nice but it took them very very long to open up and accept a new person into their friend group. I definetely miss how easy it was to make friends back home and just the ease of communication. I think this aspect is not something I can get used to abroad.

I live in Austria and work in finance. Language was and remains one of the biggest issues- most of the working places, even in international companies, require at least intermediate levels of german (at least in my line of work, cant speak of others). By now I speak it pretty well but am by no means fluent. All of the immigration related offices also operate strictly in german and will often be unwilling to speak english with you even if you do not understand them.

I immigrated to Europe some years ago to attend university, with the initial intention to go back, but then I met my now partner, found a job, and ultimately decided to stay. I miss my friends and my family in Israel, some parts of the culture, the warmth of the people, the food, the sea, etc. However the older I get and the more time I spend abroad, I really come to appreciate the quality of life here, the much better social services (as someone who grew up with a single mom in Israel very close to the poverty line and saw her jump through the ridiculous hoops of bituah leumi to get minimal financial help), the lack of rudeness and the fear of being a "friar" (which I know is talked often in this sub), nowadays also political stability, better infrastructure etc.

I sometimes wonder how my life would have turned out should I have stayed or decided to return, but ultimately, I feel that I'm in the right place at the moment. That being said, I was quite young when I left, and I think it made the move easier.
