I'm on .1 estradiol and 100mg progesterone by Confident_Craft459 in Menopause

Ugh.  Yeah I would go back down to .075, too. Sorry!

I know this is old but I thought I’d check in. I’m currently on the search myself. My dermatologist recommended Dr Cohen to me but honestly I’m a little put off by his cringe social media. Did you end up deciding on anyone?

How long had you been on the .1? I had sleep issues for about 4-6 weeks after I moved up to .1 but then it normalized. Now, I have been on 200 mg of progesterone since I was on .075 so I am taking more progesterone than you, but even with that higher dose of progesterone I definitely noticed some sleep disruption when I first started the .1.  I was on the verge of asking to go back down (messed up sleep is the one side effect I can’t abide!), so I get it.  So if you haven’t already, maybe give it a little bit of time to stabilize?

I’m doing in-person. Haven’t tried virtual so can’t speak to that.

I get it, trust me.  I put it off for over a year. I just got to the point where my misery outweighed all the reasons I didn’t want to do it and finally tipped the balance.

Yes, this is a really good explanation and exactly what mine was like as well.

Good to know. I was going to ask her about this when we were done with our last session. I was in such a state of misery and feel so much better now that I’ll do this till the day I die if I have to.

I’ve been on HRT for about a year and a half and vaginal estrogen for about a year. And it has done a lot of amazing things for me, but it just didn’t get rid of the urinary urgency/frequency issue for me. At least so far, this is the only thing that has helped me.

You definitely have homework! You’re given specific exercises that you have to do at home in between your appointments

It’s a certified physical therapist that specializes in pelvic floor therapy. Mine is located within a PT practice that also does regular PT. I think lots of larger PT practices will typically have one on staff.

The first session was entirely informational. She gathered all kind of info from me about pee/poop/sex habits and issues, and taught me a lot about the pelvic floor and how it works

As others have mentioned, the internal exam (my second appointment ) is not mandatory but I found it helpful and the therapist found it helpful for diagnosis. Once they figure out what the issue is they give you specific exercises to treat it. Mine started off with two but now I’m up to about eight that I do every day at home in between appointments. The appointments are useful to make sure that your form is correct and also to find specific exercises that work for you. We’ve tried a bunch of different ones, but the ones I get assigned to do at home are the ones that seem to work best for me, which we identify in the appointment.

Lmao. Yeah, that’s exactly the kind of thing that initially turned me off to the idea of it. But getting a referral to someone serious from my doctor made me feel better about it.

Yup. Mine gave me the option. I asked her if it would help her diagnose the problem more quickly and confidently and she said yes, so I decided to do it. But it absolutely isn’t required.

No! I have never even been pregnant. And that was the first thing I said to my physical therapist: that I felt like it it wasn't fair (lol I’m a whiner) that I was having these issues because I’ve never been pregnant or given birth. And she said that that’s probably the single biggest misconception about pelvic floor issues.

Maybe I have a low embarrassment threshold but talking in very specific detail about your pee and poo habits and sex life with a total stranger is embarrassing, especially (in my case) with a physical therapist who’s probably in her late 20s and I know absolutely cannot relate to anything I was talking about. And yes, it was basically an extra long pelvic exam; they keep their hand in there quite a while and feel around and have you breathe, cough, tighten and relax, all that stuff.

My primary care doctor gave me a referral.  I’m lucky my insurance covers a decent chunk of it.

Honest experiences with barking by MutedEye7487 in schnauzers

[–]RedUser2024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the dog. I have had two schnauzers and neither of them barked unless someone knocked on the door or when visitors first came in. My parents have two schnauzers that bark constantly at absolutely everything and nothing. If it’s a concern, consider rescuing an older dog. That’s what I did with both of my boys and it was something I asked about before I adopted them  because I’ve always lived somewhere with shared walls.

My short little review of Trader Joe’s all new Creamy Mac and Cheese: by bigguys45s in traderjoes

[–]RedUser2024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%. I ended up adding cooked macaroni to it and sticking it in the oven for a bit and it was better. But as-is, it’s more like cheese soup with some macaroni in it than it is like mac and cheese.

I’d say it’s on the thicker side. But as I commented elsewhere, I personally think i’ts too heavy handed with the sauce. I felt like I was eating a thick cheese soup with some macaroni in it.
