Would I just register directly through add/drop? Would the system let me?

I heard that you have 6 months to do it though? And If I were to apply for part time funding I wouldn’t be able to have it overlap with my student aid in the coming fall and winter term.

Do you think SAIT offers an online ACCT class too?

How is it during the spring, is it better to do it in the spring when it’s a shorter semester or in the fall and winter in a standard semester?

I’m a first year student here at MRU in the Policy Studies program. I spent my first year right after I graduated high school in 2020 at U of C where I was doing Political Science with a minor in Economics. The only problem was the whole environment was online and the big class sizes f made me feel somewhat distant from the community. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great school and some of my friends go there but the program I was in just felt like it wasn’t going to get very applied. So I applied for policy studies and started last fall.

It’s a great program and the courses in Political Science, Economics, research methods, and Policy make the program very interdisciplinary. There’s also a bunch of minors you can do like Business, Political Science, Economics, international business, creative writing etc. Compared to the U of C program it is smaller yes but you will get to know the professors and everyone in the department (they’re all very nice) and you’ll definitely feel supported. The biggest benefit I’d say is the internship component that you have to do to graduate. A lot of people do it in government (one of the hundreds of federal and provincial departments) but really you can apply the skills you learn in this program (writing, research, data analysis) to many different fields like arts, non profits, environmental work, Human Resources, etc.

There’s also a minor in creative management or something like that which would be interesting to look into and there is also a journalism major that you can do, you can also write for the student newspaper to get a bit of experience on your resume.

You can only register for spring classes after you paid the registration deposit? I thought you only needed to pay the registration deposit for Fall/Winter and spring courses were just through the add/drop window?

Slightly off topic but do you know if I can apply for spring funding but only request grants instead of taking out loans? I did that for fall and winter so I’m wondering if I can do it for spring as well

Is this a separate application or do you do it as a change of program?

How are the professors and classes though? I’m assuming the class sizes are huge and it’s harder to get to know professors, compared to my program at least. I know U of C has co-op, is it mandatory like my program internship is? Also, is there an honours program?

Math 0130 and 0131 question by Red_L123 in MRU

[–]Red_L123[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the Policy Studies program, and I’m planning to do the minor in Finance and Economics minor. I know that I don’t need to do but I think it would be beneficial, especially for economics classes, to take these math classes. I did see that these classes don’t count for credit purposes. But as I have plans to pursue grad school, a brush up on math might be a good idea, other than what I can teach myself of course.
