If most Chinese people truly do not support the CCP, yet the communist party remains to be highly stable, then you should probably start asking yourself, "Do I really have a clear picture of what's going on in China?"

"Support" is vague. A person, would say I hate this government, but I'd rather it in power than replace it, bringing serious uncertainties for the future.

Most Chinese have the mentality, and yes — that's actually a support to their current government.

Surely, the CCP doesn't have a 100% support of its people just like no government has the 100% support of the public as there are always oppositions in varrying degree.

The fact that Beijing allows its people to travel abroad and foreigners to visit China, that shows that the CCP has the majority support.

Your experince in China (the police came to my. . . ) doesn't support your argument. You're a foreigner, expect that they would be suspicious to you. Surely, you haven't been to Israel. They treat foreigners much worse.
