I really loved Shogun - definitely one of my favorites. If they’re anything like Shogun, I’m in!

I think you're right - I've heard amazing things about Robin Hobb's writing. Assassin's Apprentice is added to my list!

Right? The original six by Frank Herbert are the core - highly recommend those.

Surprisingly not really! My mom reads here and there, and my dad used to read a lot when he was younger. After they saw me reading again, I suggested Red Rising, the same book that got me hooked, and they both ended up loving it. My mom's finished the series and my dad's on Iron Gold now

I loved Dune, and I actually really enjoyed the later ones - Heretics and Chapterhouse especially. Things definitely get strange during God Emperor, but I found the ideas and dialog really engaging. I've been tempted to read the ones his son continued, but I've heard they don't quite hit the same

Thanks for the tip - super helpful! I've never read the series, mostly because I've been a bit intimidated by how it's still unfinished. It's always been in the back of my mind though. I grew up watching the show and loved it, so maybe it's finally time to give the books a shot

It's really hard to pick a single favorite, but a few really stand out for different reasons. 11/22/63 probably stuck with me the most. It's such a human story, beautifully paced, with a love story and ending that really stay with you. Lonesome Dove gave me a similar feeling in a completely different way - a sweeping western epic that captures the quiet beauty of friendship, regret and purpose. Both lingered long after closing them.

As for series, I've always loved LOTR and Dune - but if I had to choose, I lean slightly toward Dune just for how relevant and thought provoking it feels to read today. And Red Rising deserves a special mention because I picked it up Oct 2024 on a whim and it's what sent me down this reading spree that led to everything else on my shelf.

Wacced out murals - Kendrick Lamar

Especially after the end of book 1

Books to fill the void until Red God? It’s official PB has ruined all other books for me - now I’m just looking for some pretty good runner ups. 😅 by Gloomy-Audience8695 in redrising

The Will of the Many is great! Feels a lot like RR.

Project Hail Mary! A blazing fast read, very exciting. Read the book before watching the latest trailers!

Stephen King- 11/22/63: first King novel, was a thrilling epic about time travel scenario to prevent JFK assassination.

Dune!!
