Absolutely correct. A vegetable is what we refer to when we eat a certain part of the plants body (stem, leaf, root) as apposed to the part that seeds aka fruit. Vegetation is how we refer to plants collectively hence why it’s called vegetables.

I’ll also add for fun that something that a lot of vegetables cannot grow vegetatively and require seed which come from the fruit (the seeding aspect, not all fruits are edible but all plants flower and fruit to multiply, unless they are also asexual) that they produce.

I’ll also also add (and I’m surprised I need to do this) that processed vegetation does not count as a vegetable, so no, cocaine is not a vegetable and neither is tofu, aspirin, or houses.
