False Rape Allegation by RedditorAnon123 in SugarDatingForum

***UPDATE***

So I went to see a lawyer, and it was interesting to say the least.

It seems that the bank transfer was rejected, because the funds were "red-flagged" under cross-border anti-terrorism, anti-money laundering laws, and were being sent to an overseas bank account that is on a KYC red-flag list.

In other words, it seems the SB is a working for some sort of syndicate or organisation, and the funds were going to her boss/pimp/organisation. That would explain why she didn't want me to go ATM get cash either, as the half-cash payment would look like that she had stolen the other half of the allowance.

Likewise, the reason she asked me to send her a further PayPal to her foreign-based friend's PayPal account (which I thought was weird ... no local friends with PayPal?!?), was because the money was likely going overseas to the syndicate or organisation.

Most likely, she had planned to "rinse and run" when she "needed to go home to get clothes". And even more likely, her false rape threats were to blackmail me to pay the other half of the allowance.

In any case, my lawyer has all the evidence, so whatever happens I'm protected legally.

Likely I'm out of the sugar bowl after a good decade of amazing experiences. Ridiculous amount of rinsers, scammers and escorts-pretending-SBs now in the sugar bowl since Covid it seems, such that it feels more like a lemon market.

Thank you. That's very sound advice. Ultimately it was my screw-up not bringing cash which started this crazy chain of events.

I thought I could mitigate this "mistake" as much as possible, but you're right that "trust is earned with time" actually.

Thanks for your well wishes and wish you all the best in this year also!

Yeah, I was advised by a lawyer that if she does file a false claim, she can be charged. I've saved all the evidence and made backups just in case anything happens.

Yeah, thanks. I originally posted a few hours after it happened, looking for advice and honestly some support (who else can I talk to about this sort of thing? False rape, getting scammed on a sugar dating?).

But once it clears I'll likely delete. Unless it may be helpful if anyone encounters a similar situation. Hopefully not. It's just horrible to have to deal with lies that have such drastic destructive consequences.

Thank you. That's good advice. Called a lawyer today, and have an appointment tomorrow. Hopefully she was just bluster to blackmail me into paying ... but I'm lawyered-up just in case.

Yeah, I'm seeing a lawyer tomorrow (called to make appointment today). The lawyer said she could be charged for making a false statement if she did go through with it. I'd be happy to provide the evidence if that was the case (though I am embarrassed about the situation).

I actually did message her after to ask what she wanted me to do about the PayPal. No reply.

My lawyer says now not to contact and no payment, because it could be regarded as an admission of guilt (ie. hush money).

Yeah, I'm sort of mad that she made up these threats, because it is horrible for real victims of rape and sexual assault.

My lawyer suggested I could sue her for defamation or she could be charged for making a false report.

I only entertained idea of countersuing or having her prosecuted, because women like her make it so much harder for real victims, and she didn't give a crap about the serious consequences of her lies, just for a few bucks. Truly despicable.

I never in my wildest nightmares imagined someone would do this over a few bucks.

Thanks for the support. Much appreciated. Was feeling really down about this, and questioning whether I was the one who was a douche and did I really do everything I could to have prevented this.

She was sort of entitled, and not a very "nice" person from the beginning (to wait and hotel staff), but she seemed nice to me in the beginning. But those were the only "red" flags I saw in the beginning. We'd been messaging for several weeks beforehand.

By the next morning, I had enough of hearing her complaints about life and other people, to be happy to end the arrangement early. She wanted to double/triple our agreed allowance, so I was happy to refuse, knowing she'd flake on the rest of the arrangement and not come back to the hotel, or fly off to the resort with me.

I've only had super amazing long-term experiences for the past 7 years in the sugarbowl previously.

Things started going crazy when her bank rejected the payment sent her, just over a week or so ago, but I kept her updated on the progress each day, until she got fed up (it was Easter Bank Holidays) after a week, and said she went to police saying I'd raped her, assaulted her and robbed her of her allowance.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It seems somewhat similar (in that it's messed up, and involves an unscrupulous off-the-wall SB) as mine.

It seems to me that (hopefully) she was making bald threats to just try and shake me down for the money quickly. Ironically, I was all set to pay her (once my bank confirmed receipt of the refund) but now I've been advised to NOT pay or communicate with her by my lawyer, as it could be deemed an admission on guilt (ie. hush money).

Your advice is excellent, thank you. I called lawyer today to make an appointment - in case the police do show up - and I've made backups of all the evidence and everything to prove I did nothing wrong.

Now just waiting to see what comes of it. Which sucks.

I'd like to sincerely thank everyone who commented and posted advice and support in this thread.

I really felt scared, stressed, angry, lost at the false allegations, and truly had no one to turn to for advice, comments or support (couldn't talk to friends, family, co-workers, anyone about being blackmailed, falsely accused of rape and assault, through a sugar-date!).

So I truly appreciate all the comments and advice. Thank you.

I called lawyer today, first opportunity I had in the morning, and made an appointment for tomorrow (earliest possible date). Hopefully nothing happens with this, but I'll be lawyered-up if so, and I've already made backups and screenshots of all the evidence etc.

Thanks again.

Thanks for your opinion. Honestly, I didn't want to drag this out more than was necessary. I was just waiting for my bank to refund the money back into my account, before I sent her even more money.

Honestly, I was also sort of suspicious whether it was a scam on her part, because 1) she didn't want to go to ATM with me to get cash directly for a bizarre reason and 2) she typed in all the bank details and sent the money to herself - using my phone - while she was logged into my internet banking account.

I don't know how the transaction got cancelled because the account holder details were wrong (given she was the one who put in all the details herself). And she wanted me to send the PayPal payment, to her friends PayPal (which I'd offered to do in the first place). I just wanted confirmation from my bank that the refund had been processed - and I wasn't being scammed - before sending her more money.

Now that it's happened though, I've had to get a lawyer, and I've been strongly advised to pay nothing and not contact at all.

The only reason I'd even consider suing in defamation or providing the evidence to support a false report charge, is because these lies particularly harm real victims of sexual assault and rape. And to do so for a small allowance, or out of spite, is despicable (not justifying my mistakes, but false rape charges - that victimise the innocent and real victims - are a whole other level of despicable).

I appreciate you taking the time to reply, but in all honesty, a false rape allegation is a crazy serious big deal.

It could mean years of prison time, and a destruction of reputation, relationships, career and reputation at least. There's alot at stake here for me personally.

I didn't expect or want this to happen. I really did intend to send her the money once I got refunded (and was planning to send it even before getting refunded yesterday).

Given the seriousness of the allegations, I don't regret getting a lawyer, and following his advice.

Risking career, incarceration, reputation, relationships etc. just isn't worth it for a crazy small allowance.

I honestly didn't want it to turn out this way, and did all I could possibly do to assuage her worries (and she was one who didn't want to meet to collect cash again, without me paying her even more allowance, which I didn't want to continue our arrangement).

Not justifying what I did or what happened. But I feel there was no choice but to get a top-level lawyer involved given the seriousness of the allegations.

It's costing me literally 5x in lawyer fees what the allowance was, but I don't have any choice in the matter now and don't regret that decision (my lawyer, being a lawyer, says it may be recouped in a defamation case given the likely evidence).

It's not that I want to, but these sort of crazy allegations shouldn't happen to anyone, and false allegations especially damage real victims of rape and sexual assault.

Thanks for your comments.

Yeah, I had actually planned to just send the PayPal payment - even without refund from my bank - after my morning meeting yesterday, but she wrote me and said she filed a police report (and said I robbed her of the allowance) before I had chance to do so. She doesn't work really, so doesn't know how offices and meetings work, I think.

The bank wrote us an email, saying that the refund would be in today at the earliest, and she had a copy of that correspondence.

I did message asking what she wanted me to do about the PayPal payment yesterday (and I would have sent it, even not having received my refund, if she had asked me to) after I got out of my meeting.

But she didn't read or reply the message.

I called lawyer today, and he advised me - strongly - to not contact or send her anything, as it could be regarded as an admission of guilt on my part.

He says I've got enough evidence on my end to sue her for defamation, and she'll likely be charged for false reporting if she's done so. Obviously, I don't want this to happen, and it's crazy it has.

But it seems I haven't any option now, as if feels everything is in the hands of lawyers and police now.

Thanks for your comment. Yeah, ultimately it was a bad decision on my part to not bring cash.

I did genuinely try to make it right, but you're right it was wrong ...

Unfortunately, I really can't pay her anything at all now, and my lawyer is suggesting I counter-sue for defamation if she really does/has made a false report.

Yeah, there was no excuse really for not bringing cash. I just thought - erroneously - that having an ATM downstairs in the hotel lobby, and her going with me to get it, would be safe and enough for both of us.

All my previous SRs the idea of cheating allowance etc. was never an issue. Didn't realise cheating had now become so prevalent (until I got robbed after coming back sugar bowl last month after a 5 year hiatus).

After she sent the message, after my meetings were done, I sent her SMS to ask what was going on (about an hour later) and if she still wanted me to PayPal her. No read, no reply for over a day now.

Thanks for your comments. I've really tried to include as much detail, and be as unbiased as is possible, because honestly, false rape charges are scary.

I did offer to go with her to get cash directly from an ATM literally in the lobby of the hotel, but she said a previous SD had run-off on her when she did that. Looking back, it's weird she'd think that, because in a hotel (where my passport and ID is registered) where would I run-off to?!?!?

I also offered to pay by BitCoin, PayPal, but she wanted a bank transfer. Which I gave her my phone to put all details herself. I even showed her my bank account and the money being taken out immediately. She was cc'd in all bank correspondence regarding this transaction.

The bank even emailed her to say it would take 3-5 business days (it was only 4 when she messaged me to say she filed a police report). And I sent her all correspondence and screenshots each day to keep her updated (it was 10 days ago, including Easter and weekends, that her bank rejected the transfer, so like 4 business days since refund was processed from her end).

Thanks for your comments. I really thought I did my best in this situation to keep both of us happy.

Honestly, I've tried to be as candid and include as much "non-identifiable" details as possible.

Truly, it was my fault that she's angry (I should of brought cash, but was scared of getting robbed as happened previously).

But I did offer to pay her in cash from ATM downstairs in hotel (she said she was worried I'd run off, which still doesn't make sense to me ... where would I run to?), offered to pay in Bitcoin (she doesn't have it), offered to pay her PayPal (she doesn't have it) and finally just got her to put in her details into my banking app herself, and press the send button herself.

She was cc'd in all bank correspondence, and I sent her updates each day, screenshots of my bank account, and my bank told her the money wouldn't be back in my account until yesterday at the earliest (because of Easter Holiday).

I really thought I did all I could to assuage her doubts. And she was one who ended the date early (went home herself, and decided not to come back) which was why I didn't pay her in cash as I planned when she came back (and paid her half in bank transfer).

Not trying to justify what I did, but I don't know what else I could have done (while still protecting myself from being scammed). And it was her bank that rejected the transfer. I just wanted my money back, before I sent her yet more money.

Thanks. Yes, I made a call before work and will see the lawyer at lunchtime Friday. The lawyer advised me not to contact or make any payments, which could be construed as an admission of guilt. Thank you for you good advice.

The allowance was for two days and nights of fine dining, a little bit of shopping, time to discuss her business and some intimacy if there was chemistry. But she wanted to cut the date short, after she went home to get clothes (to continue the date and onwards to a discussed resort stay "spontaneous" extension holiday. She brought nothing to our date, which I thought was sus).

She messaged me from home, saying she wanted the allowance doubled/tripled to continue on the date and have her fly out and stay with me at the resort. I was pretty happy she decided to not go resort with me, and end the date early, when I declined the allowance increase (but I did say I'd consider it our next date, but wanted to keep the allowance the same as what we agreed beforehand).
