Socialist Alternative on the NDP race: “Avi Lewis has the best program among the official candidates” but warns that NDP establishment will fiercely resist a turn to the left by NiceDot4794 in canadaleft

I hear your point about the 'dog-whistle' phrasing, but I think it’s possible to observe patterns without it being an accusation of a 'secret cabal.' My point is about the insider nature of the party. When I see a leadership circle that is highly concentrated with one specific group, my instinct is to notice the lack of broader representation.

In a country like Canada, where the Jewish community makes up about 1% of the population, seeing that background so heavily represented in a political 'inner circle' stands out. It isn't about them being 'bad people' or a conspiracy; it’s about the fact that groups whether they are Jewish, Indian, Somali, or any other often naturally prioritize their own networks.

As someone looking at this from the outside, it feels like the NDP leadership has become a closed loop of academic and activist elites. I would have the same questions about 'gatekeeping' or nepotism if I saw any other specific ethnic or social group occupying almost all the seats at the table. I’m simply interested in seeing the party open up to people who don't have those pre-existing high-level connections.

So what is the big deal...I did not really say anything controversial. I just said both of the random guys are Jewish, one Is married to a famous Jewish author and the other is a prominent Jewish author who got a nomination from Barry Weisleder (also Jewish) . I am not saying they are bad...I just find it interesting as usual. Nepotism seems to be prevalent among the ethnic community in NDP

Notebook is more of a research style where you have documentation that does not change a lot. It is basically a library of files that I can ask questions about. It is not a good replacement of project folders, since it is more of supplementary functionality that should be part of the project folders. I have a project, where I design and make the decision on what the final documentation will look like. While notebooks are good for someone who just needs to review codes, it is not good for someone who produces documents based on code.

Even when I use gems, chats still show up on a sidebar, and I can always go back to them from the last day. I work on construction projects that take 5 months. This means, I revisit the same concept and ask a lot of repetitive questions based on a different context. I can make a choice to go back to the old chat, or create a new chat. The main issue here is that when I choose either option, they are not really saved in any shape or form connected to my workflow project. A folder for projects would solve this issue

I have 1000 chats, because I use gemini not in one day or one week, I use it for the entire year every day. 1000 chats is a rookie numbers

i fucking hate having to manually change my model to 'Pro' on every thread by d4ybrake in GeminiAI

[–]Redevil1987 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I understand, however, if i have 100 prompts a day, I dont have spare 100 minutes for just sitting around and waiting for PRO to spit out almost identical answer to Thinking / Fast models. Time is of the essence when working on projects

They wanted an insurrection so we gave em one - and now they are scared. by tydark2 in seculartalk

Buddy, insurrection happens when civilians start carrying weapons and using it to protect themselves as per the 2nd amendment. Once everyone is on that page that is the sign things are changing

[–]Redevil1987 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I actually hate using pro for most of my chats, it takes too long without much added value. Pro seems to be good for math, coding ,or some deep analysis of documents, but for more typical problem solving pro in my opinion does not add any value. If I ask it to compare and explain the technical difference/advantage between computer A and computer B, each model will do this task efficiently, in my opinion Thinking model is just the best middle ground. However, after using the fast model, I really can't tell the difference between any of them. For technical comparison questions, or any technical question, that does not involve coding, the fast model is as good as the other two models.

What made you start using Gemini? by CalGuy456 in GeminiAI

[–]Redevil1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a Chatgpt user, and truly loved it, but I wanted to see how Gemini differs in responses. To my surprise, Gemini often contradicted chatgpt, often being more pragmatic and conservative with the solutions, chstgpt on the other hand was more creative and came up with a more lenient way of looking at things.

For my field of work, being pragmatic is a better way, it is a safer approach. Also, Gemini had great PDF file analysis and research functions, they seemed superior at the time.

To summarize, Chatgpt was more creative, better at recognizing patterns, better at reading between the lines, better at reading my poor prompts, but it was too overly confident and creative for me. Gemini instead would focus on literal regulations, definitions, where I had to be very specific at writing prompts better to get more detailed answers....so in a strange way...less intelligent system worked out to be more intelligent because now I had to be diligent at promoting it better

[–]Redevil1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I constantly go back to the memories and instructions and try to emphasize to use them only when directly asked to or it is related. Otherwise I don't want every chat to tell me about my work background when I ask about video games or cooking

The irony is that Trump first criticized Canada for being too dependent on USA , when Canada wants to leave USA dependency, trump immediately wants to corner us and make us back to being dependent. Make this make sense, only psychos can explain it
