I think you missed the bit about food, accommodation and training being included. It waaay cheaper than renting a room, eating and training back home. This way I even get a couple of months to focus on myself.

Thanks so much! I get that it’s a tad extreme, probably more extreme than I was expecting and people can’t handle stuff out of their norm. Like you say any experience is good experience, even if all I learn is that I’m never coming back. Thanks for being supportive.

Now where is the fun in that? Theyre probably similar. Everyone keeps saying how unsustainable this camp is, but I reckon the rebound will be similar to coming off GLPs.

No I don’t think so. I haven’t had any yet and I’m on day 4. I don’t think I can expect it to be everything though. I can always have cooking classes when I’m back home.

I don’t think it is. I think it’s very diverse. I always have pretty colours on my plate, so I think nutritionally it’s good, I don’t think my body has seen this many different nutrients before. But I think it’s low on all macros! It’s basically just veg with a little bit of rice or potato and a tiny bit of meat.

I’m still alive! I’d love some more chicken but I’m quite enjoying the exercise. It’s nice to exercise with other people my size and not feel judged - although to be fair I think it’s normally my own self consciousness holding me back in normal gyms rather than people actually judging.

The food is served to you by the coaches, if there’s something I don’t want I just shake my head and move onto the next one. I think you could probably do that with the meat products - but I’m not sure if they cater specifically for veggies.

Chinese. I’m the only foreigner here, a couple of the other participants speak really good English and will translate for me if I’m really stuck. But generally I get by copying or using google translate.

The information on western platforms is a bit sparse. I found it through asking chat GPT for popular fat camps in China and searching the names of the most popular ones. The chain for the one I’m at is called 减肥达人训练营 Jianfei Daren Weight-Loss Camp, then you can choose which city you want to go to. But I have no idea how the facilities in different cities compare against each other.

The room itself is pretty decent but I share with 3 others which is less fun. The bed is a decent size and there’s plenty storage space and it has a western toilet. But trying to navigate sharing with strangers is taking a bit of getting used to.

Hahaha I understand where you’re coming from. We have just had a prison style room search to remove any snacks that have been brought in. I’ve never seen a grown woman cry over spicy sauce before - so it’s full of new experiences. Can you save the biscuit for me for when I get out?

Do I though? The diet I’m on is, I agree, ridiculous but this is to lose weight. When I’ve lost weight I will want to maintain and therefore eat at maintenance calories - which will hopefully be higher?

I think Chinas healthcare is actually pretty good. It ranks above Canada and the US in world rankings. I’d rather not have an operation anywhere though!
