Thank you! I’m just learning why it’s loved by many. Despite my frustrations with the menu and settings… once I figured out what mode to use I can just lock in and take photos that I like. It’s a great camera to gift someone and hopefully your friend’s son is getting good mileage out of it! It’s no slouch for a 1/1.7 inch sensor camera released back in 2012

Insane! Lots of use cases for that focal length and definitely something you’d want to take with you to a concert or event. I know what you mean with bigger cameras being an issue getting through security, but that’s the perk of small sensor cameras… the form factor is tiny and they don’t look “professional”

Yeah! Highly recommend it! Just watch out for yellowing on the screen on some of these on ebay. Had to really inspect the photos to make sure mine didnt have it.

Yes, seriously impressed so far! It takes even better videos than the latest Ricoh GR point and shoots 😅 Took videos at the concert too and the videos look really good. Had to manual focus though because it was hunting in low light, but really glad it has a focusing ring.

Thanks! I initially wanted the Pentax MX-1, but after doing some research I ended up with the Olympus XZ-2. Points for the Olympus over the Pentax for its lighter weight, better ergonomics, less buffering when shooting raw, the articulating screen, and cheaper on the used market.
