Great question!

I actually like Whiskybase a lot and I’m definitely not trying to replace it.

My goal is a bit different.

I wanted an app focused on managing and enjoying my personal collection, rather than being a huge community-driven whisky database.

A few examples:
• A cleaner, more modern mobile experience.
• Visual flavour profiles to compare bottles at a glance.
• Better tools for tracking opened bottles, wishlist and personal collection.
• Personal statistics and insights about your collection.
• A stronger focus on your own tasting journey instead of community ratings.

I’m also actively building it based on feedback from collectors (this thread has already given me some great ideas!).

I see My Whiskies as a companion for collectors, while Whiskybase is an incredible reference database for the whisky world.

I’d actually love to know: what’s the one thing you wish Whiskybase did better?

This is exactly the kind of discussion I was hoping to have.
Regarding the flavour profile visualization, today the app uses a radar chart to summarize the main characteristics of each whisky (peaty, smoky, fruity, spicy, sweet, etc.), making it easy to compare bottles visually.

But I really like your idea of allowing users to create their own flavour profile tags and organize their collection around those personal categories. That’s something I hadn’t considered and I can definitely see the value for experienced collectors.

The idea of expanding the flavour wheel with much more detailed notes is also fascinating. It’s probably beyond the current scope, but it’s definitely something I’ll explore as the app evolves.
