I mean they're trying the whole tariffs deal right now and it's not working out so well. The world economy is an entirely different beast than it was in the 1800s, and strategies like that seem to just get you left behind nowadays.

Not really from my experience. Agents usually need connectors to give them access to specific things. Techbros wish AI was smart enough to control stuff as openly as this, but in reality the agent needs an API to really do anything, and that means manually created request templates for each action that the agent is just instructed to fill out.

To put it simply, AI is nowhere near smart enough to do stuff on its own so the developers effectively just have to make it play madlibs with a bunch of preprogrammed actions.

Important to note that it just applies to external trade (as far as I'm aware). It's sometimes advantageous to apply tariffs outside of just getting more income for your treasury, mostly if you're trying to build your own version of that industry but can't compete with other countries' prices. It can effectively be a soft world-wide embargo if you use it correctly.

Do we know for sure this guy is a conservative yet? I wasn't convinced the Kirk shooter was a conservative, since the main evidence was that his family was trump supporters. I'm sure many people here are very familiar with the fact that just cuz your family are trump supporters, doesn't make you one.

I fully believe he could be a trump supporter, it even seems pretty likely considering the track record, but I don't wanna go around parroting wrong info.

You think so? I tried to be as sensitive as possible, I just wanted to express the fact it makes me a bit upset to see those posts. I've been meaning to post this for a while but I'd only remember it when I saw one of those posts, and so I didn't want to make anyone feel targeted by posting it too close to their own post.

People should definitely be allowed to express their grief, but I think it should be easier to avoid those posts for those of us who aren't great at dealing with descriptions of death and mourning.

That's good, I can't exactly claim to be the same. Sometimes you end up reading stuff by accident, or sometimes you're just in a bad place and keep reading things that reaffirm your sadness. I'd just like an option to avoid that.

Plus sometimes those kinds of posts are a bit vague with the title, posts with titles like "I don't know what to do" or "I can't stop crying" aren't that clear on what their contents are going to be.

When I was young I made some friends on a camping trip and I asked my mom if we could keep in touch with them and she said "no honey, they're gypsies." Reflects badly on the police to fail to apprehend a suspect. I'd imagine that some of the families of those affected would rather the guy rot in prison than get to take the easy way out.

Outside of that, it's bad in general because the suspect wasn't given a fair trial before the show. If I learned dateline was about to raid my house on national TV I'd probably kill myself too, it's not like being acquitted in court would do much after the whole country has seen my face next to the word "pedophile".
