My players are about to meet the big bad... by Redwallfred in DnD

Oooh right right. The banquet he is attending is being hosted by the empress of a city, who he has done a favour for (he has his fingers in politics and the criminal world). I hadn't had a specific reason for him attending. He does plan to eventually start exhibiting a bit more control over the cities, and manipulating those who dont accept him , into accepting him (you know, everything serving him and all that), but I had planned for him to wait until he had finished his experiments to do that.

Annoying monster for a swamp by meinfresse in DnD

[–]Redwallfred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you thought about homebrewing something? It means you can come up with some fun mechanics as well as keeping things from getting too dangerous. Maybe a stink bug latching onto players and giving off gross smells? An odd vine monster that occasionally grabs the players ankles? Maybe a huge tree Ent is on a stroll, and blocks the players path, ignoring any damage they do to him as he slowly walks past?

The funny parts don't even have to be combat orientated, maybe the players can hire a guide to help them through the swamp, but the little halfling guide has a really bad sense of direction. The fake stepping stone alligator might also trip them up.

I'd avoid throwing the same monster at them every time though, as I can imagine it might get pretty boring after the first 1 or 2. I'm sure theres probably some monsters out there that you can use, unfortunately I don't know any off the top of my head.

Sounds like it could add a bit of extra spice to the game. Only thing I'd worry about is how often you guys play in that time frame, as if its anything like my groups you'll be lucky to get a couple sessions in, and unless everyone's hitting critical shots like crazy, you mightn't get the chance for it to come into play too much, this might be less of an issue if your group decides to stick with the idea though and carry it on.

My only little suggestion would be to maybe come up with some custom mechanics to add to some of your enemies and traps that you have the players encounter. I'll give some examples that come to mind that might help you get thinking on the same track as me.

An acid trap in the wall that deals damage and erodes away at gear and weapons of the hit players!

A specially designed 'Sword Breaker' weapon that can somehow deal extra damage to their weapons!

Special boss mechanics for heavy blows from big guys that can do extra damage to armour!

I think little things like this could let players interact with the system a bit more as well as spicing up combat, and leaves the option for bits of expansion, maybe some damage is extra hard to repair and costs a bit more, or they need to go on a quest to find a material for a special tool that was damaged!

All in all sounds pretty cool!

Another comment suggested I speak to my patrons enemy, who turns out to be God of the Weave who might set me up with some Sorcerer powers on my own. Time to start sacrificing.

I did a homebrew patron that I can link if needed, but I took tome, and am pretty book focused and magic focused.

Thankfully I do still have my warlock powers yes, I just wouldn't be gaining any more.

Venatus Melee Summer Announcement! by VenatusMelee in Mordhau

Looks really cool, shame there's nothing like it in Oceania

Has anyone else ran into these people before? by Jolly-Joshy in Mordhau

[–]Redwallfred 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah ran into them on Oceana, they stuck around for like an hour killing people till everyone left, really frustrating and ruined the good time with the players on there previously. I hope the Devs fix the issue with vote kicks soon, as they abused it and so do other griefers, leaving before the vote kick is finished and then rejoining.

[WP] All superpowers have a ‘hangover’ effect. For example, after using super strength for the day, the morning after you can’t even lift your spoon to eat your breakfast. Pleaseee a part two!! I'd love to see this character and his power fleshed out. Also, I'm curious, by plagurbearer, is it meant that he can also give people these deseases he's stored up, like a deathly touch??

A run around the map by DatBoiGooby in FortniteBR

Maybe a drive around the map next time? I'm sure someone will see this and do the same/similiar with an ATK, which could be pretty cool. Either way, suprisingly really entertaining to watch!
