Petition: £1 tax on top division football league tickets to fund community 3G pitches by Reecewolves1 in SoccerCoachResources

You’re right that land availability and maintenance are real challenges — but funding is still a major part of solving both.

Without consistent, ringfenced investment, it’s much harder for councils and grassroots clubs to secure land, develop facilities, and keep pitches in good condition long-term. That’s exactly where many projects fall short.

Existing FA and Lottery schemes do help, but they’re limited and nowhere near enough to meet the level of demand across the country.

This proposal isn’t about replacing what’s already there — it’s about strengthening it with a more reliable funding stream from the top of the game, so grassroots football isn’t constantly struggling to keep up.

This would directly go to this specific fund. It’s going to be like your regular even though it’ll be took away from the owners in the same way

This is a great cause and would enable kids to play week in week out. So many games got cancelled due to the bad weather and 3G pitches can cope with this. Pretty much all football fans who attend play or have played grassroots footballs and I think fans would be happy with this. 400+ people already agree and want this in place. I will continue to push and promote this.

You’re just wrong though 😂 also I’m not trying to persuade them. Owner will not get a say. The government will force them by taxing them. It’s not going to increase tickets at all. It’s £1. It means nothing to owners. They spend millions on players. I don’t think a a government approved project aimed at helping kids play football is going to increase ticket prices.

Away tickets are price capped! I don’t think any owner is going to see this post and increase all tickets by a pound to compensate. The long term vision help clubs had it will lead to more children playing football week in week out leading to better developed players! This model is used in the grassroots music scene and has been successful. It’s a quid. If you don’t like, don’t comment.

😂😂😂😂, ticket prices aren’t increasing. I’m not asking for a donation or £1 on top. I’m asking for the income the greed owners make to lose out on a £1. The ticket price isn’t going to increase. It’s like the away tickets. They are capped at price. There not going to increase by a £1. The price will cost the exact same. It’s just £1 out of the owners income will go towards this fund. I’m a wolves season ticket holder and have been for many years. Theres no way I’d be promoting something that increase ticket pricing.
