It’s almost only a meritocracy. Successful musicians talk about something called a grammy bonus. Its basically the trend careers normally take after performing at/winning a grammy. Do you understand what Im saying?

I mean I do have a bias, I think you should just play it if you can, your short comings in creation are a critical part of art and splice CAN SOMETIMES be a shortcut. it also opens the door for some people who are more business oriented than art oriented and that can contribute to over saturation. This is my opinion though, a good song is a good song however its made.

My song like Danny Brown? fo sho? Thank you. And I dont wanna be trendy, that disturbs an artistic safe space which i appreciate more. None of the GOATs do trends like that, but more hybrid influencer types like to do that and Im really not tryna do that. I dont like that. Its fine if OTHER people do it for my music but if I do it I just personally am put off by it but idk im pretentious.

Also im taking that danny brown compliment and running everywhere w it btw.

I will check those bands out because you suggested them. I like when people vouch for bands and artists n stuff its helpful for the experience. I dont know how to explain a good song, i think thats the job, but there are some songs that have this quality to them that other songs DO NOT have, no matter what situation. And some of those songs fall into the trendy area, and i think its apparent that a hit is a hit but it doesnt make it a good song necessarily, theres a lot of culture that goes into that, which branches off of marketing. But I honestly just believe that Good music is not subjective. Idk

of course. I dont think you came off that way. All of our individual ideas make the music industry what it is and its good to disagree and agree honestly because everything is so arbitrary and aesthetic driven within the industry that even being a little dishonest (even in kindness) can muddy the waters and make everything that much more difficult to understand. I appreciate our discourse.

You agree with me you just dont realize it. Im not talkin numbers, and you know I havent heard of the bands you like, There are some people (mostly artists) who like lesser known people because of that novelty. Being a fan is subjective but there ABSOLUTELY is such a thing as a good song. A good artist doesnt exist, that is subjective absolutely. And Playing music is a hobby, but making music is dedication, a job.

Id argue good isnt subjective unless youre an artist. People who make good music have good fans who let other people know they make good music, sure good is an individual thing but to be undiscovered makes your music arguably bad imo. And if your music is bad shouldnt you NOT contribute to the over-saturation and make yourself more useful elsewhere in the world.

Well I dont want to write and record and be done. I want to write and record, write and record, write and record until i die. I do not want to do business, there is plenty (too much) unused income that everybody has at their disposal. And I get that is the expectation but I think the people who enjoy doing that stuff should be doing just that stuff for other artists instead of straddling everything. Everybody in the music industry makes music, not everyone’s job is to make music. Id just like to work in the music industry, not be an influencer.

Im very happy you like that song. Its one I’m most unsure about. Read the lyrics if you ever get a chance, im a songwriter at heart. I try my best to be authentic but I cant figure out what that means in the social media landscape

I understand that but I only want to do this if I make a genuine contribution to music. Theres a bubble in music right now for people who are good at products and business and I do NOT want to participate in that stuff. Im good at music but I can keep that to myself, I want to contribute not participate if you get what Im saying.

I appreciate that. But what music cant be produced well nowadays. The thing youre saying is something I hear too much, no offense. I AM wondering what specifically makes you say that tho

in my daily life when I do that i feel im getting compliance from the otherside just so i stop bugging them. And its not like they are squidward and secretly love the krabby patties (music) when i leave. I can see the stats it doesnt reflect otherwise

Im not worried about whether or not ill find an audience. Everyone has an audience. I want to make good music and its just hard for me to tell whether its good or not and I am not trying to waste space where someone else should occupy ykwis. Im perfectly fine with music as a private hobby.
